Hell, it would take me more than "44 minutes" just to get to someplace that could verify my identity (using my current driver's license), look up my birth certificate, print it out, certify the copy, and charge me for it. (Of course, even if they did that, who's to say it is MY birth certificate, anyway???)

BTW, DHS estimates the cost to states and individuals will only be $23 billion...

Mandatory National ID.

Required for some forms of travel and for entrance to federal buildings.

Not unless it follows specific requirements for content and format, requirements for electronic content, and validation against birth certificate, etc.

So far none of the state DLs appear to meet the new Fed requirements.

Ironic, that here in CA, you can have your drivers license taken away for driving illegally, but if you are here in the country illegally, the state wants to give you a drivers license.

I cant wait to leave this country.

That was meant to be tounge-in-cheek. But a few years ago, it almost came to pass, save our governor who vetoed the bill.

There's only about 30 million in the entire country of Canada. BC or Vancuver have been looking real good to me for a few years now.
