Default Iran's Fight For Freedom

As an Iranian I'm deeply saddened by what's going on...please keep the country in your thoughts & prayers. So many have been wounded over this battle because of the rigged election. A 21 year old girl was shot in the heart & killed while protesting in the streets with her father. A 7 year old child was also beaten with a baton while walking in the streets by the ridiculous police & suffered a broken neck. They weren't even protesting, just merely walking in the streets. Many others have been killed as well. Don't take for granted the freedom that we Americans have.

All phone lines in Iran are either tapped or disconnected & I have a close family friend who I haven't been able to get a hold of. Twitter is essentially the only means of internet in the country as of right now, & the government's trying to crack down on that to punish the people, too. They're attempting to find the people based on the set time zones. If you Twitter, I beg you to please please please change your time zone to +3.30 TEHRAN in an effort to make it somewhat more difficult to find the Iranian posters.

Do you realize this has been going on for over a week? It is ridiculous that a government can do such a thing to it's people.

I know how long it's been going on. Iran's been fighting for freedom for such a long time now. I hope it's all over soon, but at the rate it's been going for the past week, it's only getting worse. News reports are claiming only 19 have been killed, but I've read SO MANY stories about people who are wounded & killed that I find it hard to believe that it's only 19.

Changed my Time Zone

My cousin Ali actually got his arm broken and shoulder dislocated during one of the protests. I haven't heard about his situation since. Luckily my mom was able to contact my one of my uncles in Iran and hear that they are fine. I'm hoping for the best and that there will be no more deaths because of all of this.

I can say, without a doubt.... those who stand for freedom against oppression and tyranny in Iran are doing the work of God (Allah). I pray that the lives of these martyrs may not be wasted by apathy and ignorance from the rest of the world.

Yeah this sucks. There's a reason why its called an election. Been through this type of thing too when I was living in the Phillipines, but not as deadly. I hope for peace for sure, but the only way this can be resolved is if the UN takes action. Im no political expert or anything, but that's what I think.

BTW, Tina & Eamon I've seen quite a few people in my area and work with flags saying "Free Iran" on their car. Did you know about those?

A lot of people have those, & green ribbons around their wrists. Felipe (his step-dad's full persian) even has a green bandana tied around his antenna.

I've been making green bracelets with a black bead in memory of Neda & sending them out to whoever wants one for Iranian support...free of charge, just PM me an address.

But what happens if Iran did elect the other guy? Now you have someone more agreeable with outsiders. To me it seems like all that would do is encourage the jihadists in the region (Iraq, Afghanistan) to flock to Iran and turn it into a full blown warzone. Seems like a no win situation to me. I feel bad for the people whose lives got turned upside down over there.

Were is the world going ? Its so full of war. Every time I get online and read the news. Its always about some sort of war. The UN should be in their helping those people out, no doubt. I saw the video of the young girl and it is sooo sad to see, she did not do anything. My friends family is from Iran and they have been so sad lately as all their family is over their. I hope everything clears out.

it seems like the whole election over there was a shame. They also refuse to do a "recount". The "smart" thing for them to do is say that guy isn't the president and hold another election with some more oversight. The UN probably would be happy to have people over see another election if it meant the violence would stop.

They DID do a recount....all ballots were recounted within 2 hours & they had an extra 12 million ballots. They even did a revote in a small city with a population of 100 & came back with 150 ballots.

Ahmadinejad essentially wants a dictatorship, & no countries want to get involved because of fear. Reason why Obama won't get involved. Everyone's mad at him for it, too. He was hosting a ball or meeting or something & a huge portion of the embassy leaders said they're not attending because they're angry that he won't step in.

honestly though, this may sound ignorant but our economy is already in ruins so another war would kill us financially trying to be the "world police". i can understand helping but other countries have to step in too! Dont get me wrong i feel terrible for whats going on and i wish we would all do something but it could cause a lot of turmoil if America steps in! A lot more deaths would occur to!

No, I completely understand where Obama's coming from, because it could essentially lead to another WORLD war at this point.
