Default Just got my first ticket. Freakin blows

So not only am I strapped for cash as it is, but i got myself my first speeding ticket. Was heading over to the Mazda Dealership so I didn't bother grabbing my radar detector since its right around the corner from me. Pulled out onto the road and then Whoop Whoop. Doing 48 in a 30. Pulled over, Treated the cop with respect didn't give lip or anything so he dropped it to 39 in a 30. I was hoping he would give me a warning since I had a clean driving record but what ever. Freakin. 106 bucks. Is that retarded or what. 100 bucks for doing 9 over. Had he left it as 48 it would have been 206 bucks. What ____ me off the most was that he said he caught me on radar doing it, The one freakin time I leave my radar detector at home is the time I get busted. Ain't that a beotch. Just wanted to rant. Not arguing that its bs or what ever cuz its not. I was speeding so what ever, it just sucks. NY doesn't take points or anything from FL so all I have to do is pay the ticket and that's it. [/b]

Just curious, why don't you leave your detector in your car?

I used to. But i don't live at home anymore and go to college, therefore my car stays in a large parking lot and not in a nice driveway and I lost my GPS a few weeks ago and I believe someone might have stolen it. Ever since then I've been taking my new GPS and my Radar Detector in with me. About to start leaving it in the car again.

Lesson for the day, drive the speed limit when you don't have your radar detector!

^^ Good thing is that since I'm out of state, I don't have to worry about points or insurance or anything. I could go to traffic school which would reduce the fine by 18%, but from 100 bucks, Idk if its really worth 4 hours of my time.

Congrats... and you're lucky. My first speeding ticket was far worse.

73 in a 40. I don't think I was going that fast, but I didn't bother fighting it since it would've cost me too much in lawyer fees and/or time out of work, so I paid the close to $400 and 3 points on my license.

Never sped since, so lesson learned. That $400 was taken directly from my boost fund, and I almost cried.

Yeah everyone speeds, it just sucks when you get caught. Hope you find a job bro, just try to be more cautious next time. At least you accepted that it was your mistake.

^^ Good luck. I thought i was gonna be ticket free for ages haha. With some of the poop i've done back in NY I'm surprised I lasted 2 years with-out tickets. One month in Florida and already got one. Freakin Sucks What ____es me off the most is that i coulda def avoided it had I just brought my radar detector. Like the place that the cop was my radar detector would have picked him up no problem what so ever.

Coward citations? What exactly do you mean by that? The dude was going 48 in a 30. That's 60% over the speed limit. He even admits that he was wrong. He's got a good attitude about it (even though it sucks) and the cop cut him a break by lowering it. I suppose you feel the cop should just let him speed?

That's not all you could've one to avoid it. Less pressure on the "GO" pedal would've saved you the ticket too.

Damn dude. That sucks. I got my first ticket in Daytona Beach too. Probably went to the same college. You never forget the 1st one. 48 in a 35MPH zone (Richard Petty Blvd.)

^^ Holy Crap my ticket was on Richard Petty too hahaha. Richard Petty's a 30 now, not a 35. I'm going to Embry-Riddle so I basically just pulled out of the parking lot and got hit with the ticket lol.

Small world

I was coming off Clyde Morris Blvd onto Richard Petty, and she got me coming around that first curving right turn, before the left into the school. 13 years ago.
