because the name of the forum says "off-topic..." meaning they can post whatever they feel.

We used to have a guy here at work that gave great legal advice, mainly because he had been charged with breaking most of the laws anyways.

Last I heard, he was selling meth.

It should be a really short column;

"In California, anything you want to do to change your car from stock is illegal"

(except for maybe paint, and interior upholstery)

I'm sure they are looking for ways to outlaw those as well on the left coast.

(1) The 'left coast' is not entirely Kalifornia...

(2) Free advice is worth everything you paid for it.

(3) To many of those asking quasi-legal questions, the correct answer doesn't really matter - what they want is someone else to agree with them.

====

IANAL, but I am fairly decent at internet searches, and can often find tha actual law on many questions (both state and federal).

I generally do NOT answer legal questions unless I have an actual copy of the law in front of me, and even then will post the law as back-up for what I say.

(Even more often I will just post the law that applies and not comment. One does not need someone else's interpretation of a law saying "_________ is absolutely forbidden" or "__________ is absolutely required.")

Thing is, since the law frequently does NOT agree with what the questioner wishes for, they ignore, argue, or at least wait for someone else to say to do it anyway. *sigh*

We have articles in the tech section for modifying our vehicles. The results of doing a number of those mods is a vehicle that is unlawful to drive on public roads in many states, or sometimes anywhere in the entire country. I have considered posting a copy of the applicable laws in each of those threads, but decided against it.

Those who actually want to follow the law will ask or find out for themselves. The rest of 'em don't really care - they'll just gripe about the stupid cops giving them a ticket for something that is obviously illegal.

Idiots.

One absolutely can't make things foolproof - fools are just too damned ingenious.

You are so right, Tomas... in fact, most of us here are illegal... I know I am, by running clear corner markers, I am now a scofflaw. And when I crank up the tunes, I become a complete scalliwag......
