why would you want to move the buttons around?

main downfalls to the i-phone are:

size (too large for my taste)

i would be scared of scratching it all day long and probably keep in a dumb pouch or something. lol

Why would you want to move buttons around? Ignorance truly is bliss. One is productivity on apples part. Because contrary to popular belief, the U.S. is not the center of the world. Not everyone uses a QWERTY keyboard, QWERTZ, QZERTY and AZERTY are a few different variations of the keyboard used in Europe. There is also Dvorak keyboards that someone might find better suited to their tastes. And in order for Apple to do this, they just have to write new software, not produce millions of "European" style phones. They can use the same exact hardware that is sold here in the U.S.

From a functionality stand point, not EVERY program or application needs a keyboard. The multi-touch not only allows you to hide the keyboard when not in use in certain applications, but also with some programs (Such as the NES Emulator) the keyboard is completely useless.

It gives you the freedom to program whatever you can dream basically as far as controls go. Where as other smart phones, they keyboard is always RIGHT there, staring you in the face! Cutting your screen size in half! or making the phone twice as thick(SK)

ANd you mentioned size, have you seen one in person? Almost everyone who sees mine for the first time mentions that they thought it would be bigger. They are amazed at how thin it is. The large screen makes it seem like a HUGE phone, but it is truly not. 4.5 x 2.4 x 0.46 inches, slightly taller and thicker than a 30 or 60 gig video ipod.

for me, its everything i need. i use the cingular 8125 now, was gonna get the 8525 (tytn) but when i read about this one, i may as well wait. wm6, 3g, and a few other upgrades from the 8125.

if the iphone would have come out 3-5 yrs ago (or even 2 yrs ago when I was working in the wireless industry), i would have gone out and got it, its just not what i need anymore. to me it seems more like a novelty. but thats just my opinion. they have sold tons of them so it cant be a bad device. hell, i dont even own an ipod. lol

^Thats the key, is finding a phone that suits YOUR needs! If you rely on the speed of a 3g network for business, the iPhone is not the phone for you right now.
