you know, as you get older the metabolism slows down ( way down... ) and you really need to keep moving.
But i have to admit, a cinnabon with extra frosting while kicked back on the sofa watching the big screen: that just feels soooooooo good......
All kidding aside, I myself have hit that level where i can't rely on the "met" anymore to handle all the crap I like to eat.... i actually have to start working for it now.
And changing or adjusting the lifestyle in some ways can be more difficult then actually excercising...

Some eating tips per Lifetime Fitness:
1. Eat small meals (4) a day and small snacks (healthy snacks like an apple not apple-pie) throughout the day.
2. Your plate should contain (each "small" meal):
A handful of protein products (lean meats, fish, beans, nuts, etc.)
A fist-size portion of complex carbs (wild rice, whole-wheat bread, etc.)
A fist-size portion of vegetables or fruit
3. Limit fat intake.
4. Water, drink lots of water.

Playing with the calorie game (counting calories) alone does not work and forces your body to store more fat instead of burning it off. Also loss in muscle mass and loss in energy to continue an excercise session.

If you have a PC, PS2 or XBox: http://www.yourselffitness.com/
It works! It's the only game that makes you sweat. DDR doesn't count since it's only up and down motion. Also may cause lower body (foot) injuries.
