Default MTX AUDIO 22" JACKHAMMER intalled in van*ICE & INTE

Couldnt find a better area to post this since it isn't an xB, xA, or tC. I'll have more info on this guy sometime this week but we've talked to him often on this and he loves the woofer.

Looks kind of cool... but wtf... if you gotta have a gigantic van with such a huge box... it would just be totally NOT practical for anything else.

having 12 12" woofers in a vehicle which this single woofer is comparable to isn't practical either. This woofer isn't for everyone that wants a loud system, its for someone who has the money and wants something different than what the kid down the street has and everyone else. The performance of this woofer is incredible and even though you wouldnt think so it is for sound quality so it plays music insanely loud and clear.

Man, what was that show I watched on TV a few nights ago where they installed one of those jackhammers where the backseat used to be? It was insane...the sub sat pretty much right behind the driver's head. It was one of those Pimp Your Ride kinda shows where they took this old beater (Oldsmobile maybe) and gave it a turntable where the glove compartment used to be, a rising platform in the trunk for the amps, computer and some other stuff and one of those subs in the rear. Does anybody know what show I'm talkin about?
edited to add: I found it...here's a video: http://www.nearlygood.com/video/mtxjackhammer.html

thanks for the video post, thats awesome. We actually bought that car off the kid cuz he was moving somewhere without a garage and didnt want to park it in the street.

The van sounds much better than the Oldsmobile because the car just had the sub firing into the trunk with no enclosure and in a sense it was a sealed enclosure and this is ported making it much louder. We get many phone calls and emails every day on people asking about this woofer from being on that show.

Sweet! Now figure out how to cram it all in an xB!

Funny thing, it may just fit inside an xB. If you consider converting the Box into a 2 seater I am sure there is enough space for the enclosure, nothing else .. , but it would be a possibility. If anyone out there wants to build an xB around this, I would be willing to give it a shot and even make it look good ...

you'd kill the springs, get about 18 mpg, your 1/4 time would be about 12.5 days at 67mph, and if you have a stick, you'd be replacing the clutch once a month.

there's a reason why it was on that engine lift.. it wasn't just for display purposes...

I'm guessing the speaker weighs 6-800 lbs. There's another 3-400 lbs of of MDF, and then another 200 lbs in batteries and amps. That also is one of the reasons that it's in what appears to be a 3/4 or one ton Chester the Molestor van.

It's not impossible, gut the interior, which you'd have to do, that reduces weight. If you are considering this then performance is .. well a joke, no doubt. It would be the equivalent of riding your three fat friends all over town all the time. To combat suspension whoas .. go air ride. It wouldn't be a practical car, but practical people do not think of these things ...

BTW, who was the genius that decided to bring that thing in through the driver's side? It didn't occur to any of you that the side w/o the steering wheel might have at least one fewer obstacles.

the woofer itself weighs in at 380 lbs with a 6 inch voice coil and 2 inch mechanical excursion each way making it a total of 4 inches cone travel total. The RMS is 6000 watts with a peak of 12000 but can handle more than 6000 for RMS. Right now we have a dual 4 ohm voice coil cone but are also coming out with a dual 2 ohm cone that can be changed out WITHOUT having to remove the basket.

It looks more like a nuclear warhead than a sub...especially hanging there on that engine lift. Don't drop it!
