I went to a facility that does maintenance on Army tanks. They pulled the motor out of one of them and I found this...

I put my hand next to it for size reference. I'm 6' 2", so my hands are pretty big. That inlet is about 6 inches in diameter. Crazy big! I bet bet this tank can do 0-60 in 25 seconds flat!

 

that is pretty big. the biggest one i've seen(in pics) was this guy standing next to one that was as big/bigger than the guy.

 

There is a pic I saw like in an encyclopedia (maybe old school book or something), of a guy standing on top of a Turbo from a 747 or something like that. I just know it was from one large plane, and the turbine was GIGANTIC!


PS...Don't show that pic around to much, otherwise you might have some ricer in a Civic thinking he can slap that on his car and out run everything known to man.

 

Well, it would be funny if a civic owner tried. It would never spool up. The engine this turbo was attached to was the size of a civic...not just the motor of the civic, the whole damn car!

This turbo doesn't make a tank the fastest thing on the road, but no one would ever want to race it for fear of the main gun! Gain a few car lengths and you might catch a SABOT round in the hatch!

I was in the shipping depot on base here, and I saw an even bigger one. I was just standing next to a big cardboard box full of random junk and looked down and saw it. It was about 3-4 inches bigger than that one in diameter. I have no idea what it was from, I'm guessing a bulldozer or something.
