Wow! Those are great shots!
Just goes to show you that tallent is way more important than equipment. That's proof that you don't need a $1000 + DSLR to get great photos. Tiger Woods with an old set of garage sale clubs could still beat most people with a top-of-the-line set of titanium/graphite clubs.
to be honest... this is my first camera and only owning it for about a year and a half!!!
key thing is take a lot of pictures, thats what professionals do and use the ones you like...
heck this is just a hobby i still need work/practice on my shots
another key thing is always keep a camera with you at all times cause you never know when you'll see a photo opp.
and a steady hand helps too tri-pod for night shots ect ect ect...
and i work at a nursery thats how i get all the cool nature shots...

Boo, no good(you realize that I don't really want a picture, and that I was only joshing ya right? After all you did explicitly state you have an olympus point & shoot deal and do this as a hobby).
I'm sure most haven't come across an AMC hornet, and if they did, they most likely aren't aware of what it is.
My favorite picture has to be the grasshopper posing in the grass. What a pimp.

yeah if that dragon fly can fly from indiana too FL in a few hours, bleah
now this caterpiller is a real real... well let me just say its mild posion needles (its prickly hairs) is worse then a bee, yellow jacket wasp, hornet sting
it feels like thistles (feels like burning itchy feeling, best way too treat it is with mud)
btw its called a saddle back caterpiller

that would be a moth.
as for the wasp + beetle picture, I didn't even know the wasp was there until I downloaded the picture. I set the camera up on a tripod and did a delayed shutter (2 seconds between clicking the ubtton and the shutter firing). I wasn't even looking at the beetles. Pleasantly surprised to say the least! I do wish the focus was better though.
as for what they were munching on, that particular tree is on it's way out and is giving off alot of sap. they were eating that.

i kind of wish i could mess with my shutter speed
i would love to take pictures of lighting
and if you look even closer at that moth you'll see a large chunk of its wing missing too! (on the left wing)
