Default Mysterious bB need clarification

i was talking to this guy today and he seemed like a lot of talk, my xb this and that and
it's an M5 from japan that was shipped direct and it gets 65miles to the gallon

is there such a car? 'coz i don't wanna talk isht to this guy but he works w/ my room mate
and just to stick w/ my instincts i think he's all BS.

apparently the car came stock w/ a wider body (appox 1-2" wider), 1.8motor, no smog
stuff (being direct from japan) bla bla bla. PLEASE TELL ME THERE'S NOT an M5

i figured i'd ask the forum since there's a lot of you that know more about the bb than i do.
anyhow, need feedback and am really curious about this M5 scion

The M series is a BMW designation (the letter means "Motorsport") and are their performance tuned specialty series. There's no reason an xB would have an M5 designation, since that indicates a modified 5-series, which the xB most certainly is not. No comparison, the M5 is an $82,000 car.

Also, if it has no smog reducing emissions system, it would not pass the inspection needed to get american registration. So, it either has an american emissions system, which is possible if it was an import, or he's driven it for about a week total.

Possible it's an import, don't know why he was calling it an xB if it was, but not possible to be an M5 or without a proper emissions system.

Not to mention that the M5 would be the sport edition of the 5 series BMW, and no self respecting 5 series BMW would come with a 1.8 ...

here's another interesting information i was given yesterday,
apparently "this guy" had the local dealership double check the VIN#s
and supposedly the dealer also concluded that this is a "special edition M5"
i didn't get the name of the dealer's technician nor did i verify the VIN#
but before i call his bluff, i'm gonna have the roomy double check
the VIN and get the dealer technicians name as well.

little does this guy know that the particular Toyota/Scion dealer
he's refered to is my Scion team sponsor. Wow, thanks for the
responses....this will soon get interesting

LOL, I love proving people wrong that think they know everything about cars when they are just full of BS. Good luck teaching this guy a thing or two about his car.

the car does exist...i saw it, so i'm trying to do a myth buster research on it now.
eventually my roomy is gonna take some photos of the engine bay, get the VIN#,
take photos of where it would've had "the right hand drive" holes

it has minor mods on the box but not that i could tell it's any thing more than an xB.
i'll eventually have under the car photos to have more proof of smog legal items and
basically take pictures of the interior to determine if it's a one "off" xB or another
bogus fabrication and egotistic narsissism.

monday or tuesday will be d-day to claim fact or fiction and really put this one to rest

ha ha ... ummmm no. actually it started in 2000. the concept was in 1999.

they actually have 1.0's , then 1.3' as well as 1.5's. the 1.5 is bbx.

the 1.3 is most commonly turbo'd. all are automatics , some are awd.

there is a first gen and a second gen. the body is teh same , only major differences are headlights , hatch , skirts , bumper length. rear license plate location.

I agree with hotbox's retard theory.

At least he produced a car for you though ! All of the local tards I run into talk a good game but when it is showtime. It is in the shop, at their parents house 3+ states away, was sold last night LOL !

Can't wait for the pics of the M5, this should be good

Is his name Nate? We had a pathological lair in HS whose name was Nate. He had a half pipe in his bedroom where he did McTwists.. he couldn't olley, but he's doing McTwists in his bedrooms. Anyway, to this day, people that graduated from that HS from 91-96 know you're calling BS when you say "OK, Nate" :D

thanks for the encouragement guys, i feel so much better
now that i didn't buy this guys BS.
I figured and agree w/ you "why the hell would you convert
FROM a right hand drive?"
the first tell tale sign that i began to wonder if this car really
was what he was saying......if it was OG from JAPAN....why
did it have USDM lights? didn't make sense.....and then he
goes "yeah! the way I drive, I still get 40mpg" so i'm think'n
sheet, i wanna trade you mine just for gas savings.
anyhow, day by day when my roomy and i discuss this guys isht talking....we concluded Bullisht too.

unfortunately he's name isn't nate ::

This story reminds me of my friends mother-in-law who is completely convinced that her '99 Camry was AWD... I mean convinced. She is known to exaggerate, so we all took ot with a grain of salt.

Maybe her next car can be an "M5 edition xB"

I too love when people talk about cars like they know something and they are talking total nonsense. They always seem to make it so that you can't ever really catch them flat-out, at least not in my cases.

I have a feeling the car will be "in the shop" or something, at least until he knows you won't check up on it anymore.
