i've never bashed zpi, and i've also never purchased from them. but that's mostly because i am hesitant due to REAL experiences i've read about here on SL.The posts about ZPI's issues go well beyond "shipping problems." That's a quaint way of putting it, but kind of like putting lipstick on a pig.

"if someone asks about a specific item or company, don't send them to someone else"?? that's a lame argument. opinions are like a$$ho1es, everyone's got one..and in this forum we are free to speak. what? if i ask about the s/c someone isn't going to jump on me to purchase a turbo instead? if someone asks about the honda civic si, you aren't going to explain the features you like the most on the tC? get like john stossel and give me a break.
and 'retail experiences'??...whatever. as long as i don't slander or malign, just like in a bar setting, we can banter back and forth.

and for what its worth, i have only bought a stiffy from dezod..and that was after bending Paul's ear for like an hour in the evening about turbo charging. he's not going to retire on my little order and the price is the same as anyone else's. is their kit the best thing since meatless meatloaf? at this point, beats the hell out of me. will i eventually buy from them? don't know, maybe yes maybe no. but they gave me a great education, offered to spend even more time with me figuring this out, and i would be happy to recommend them for that kind of service and passion about what they do. honestly, i never felt i needed to mention that until this thread...

 

you know, the best thing about companies, is the stuff behind closed doors that you never see. the late night phone calls, the customer dinners, or hell, the customer sleepovers when the hotels are too full or we just like you.

each company has these....unfortunately, those are the posts that never get made. owning a business is hard, and every business on here should be commended for operating. because if it was easy, everyone would do it.

No response was necessary Paul, just giving an example of what a ZPI person could use as Ammo to take a stab at you guys.....IF we had the maturity level of some of the Dezod advocates.

 

If only everyone was this smart.

 

The bad thing about this post is that anyone that does not know anything about these 2 companies would not buy from them because of this post. Its ok to have an opinion about something or someone but it is better to keep this off the internet where thousands or millions of people could see it posted. I am sure that some of us here have heard the phrase defamation of character, it works on companies as well as people. Lets all think before we make comments like this.

If names were left out this thread (and it IS a great one) it might have been a little more well recieved. A simple reminder of "don't go off topic and do your best to offer un-biased opinions when advice is asked" would have worked.
Either way, point well taken and a very good one at that.

 

You know I try to never reply on drama posts but that was too funny. After all this drama you still have a good sense of humor. I can't believe how personally involved customers get with companies. In the computer world you see it all too often without any logical reason why. I mean I love a good product and all but damn. Anyway props to ZPI and Dezod for their work in the scion community. Lets try to get back to positive guys. Too much negativity.

 

WOW... This topic has sprung up fast.

I'll admitt to favoring some companies but not because of what I've been reading, although some of ZPI stuff is very discouraging. I still think they make a great product, never doubted their stuff at all. In fact, I've read very few complaints, if any, about their turbos or the work that goes into their tuning. I personally just flat out like the t3/t4 ball bearing turbo. Don't really like the quiet BOV or closed waist gate of the turbonetics kit so Dezod seems like a great alternative. I don't think anyone should be mad about being on the Dezod band wagon, that's just what they like.

Now I really agree that some poeple cross that line when they start saying things like "you should have bought that kit" after the fact, what ever kit that may happen to be. That's just opening the door for a flame. Now if someone asks me what I think of the TRD s/c, you better believe I'm going to tell them the crap I've been through with the product and the company. I'm not going to talk them out of it, a lot of people are running them without any issues.

I like the point peteyd had with his original post. It's something I've been noticing a lot. Even though, looking back on my posts lately, I'm guilty of favoring Dezod. Please don't put them down for doing their best to look out for us. I'm still looking to ZPI for their blocks and hopefully this rumored tranny Kenny was telling me about.

Furthermore, you say Dezod advocates like it's a bad thing or disease.

 

I think if someone sports a company, that means they've done their job and have satisfied that costumer. You see it with every company from ZPI to Dezod to TRD. People like to talk about a good thing.

 

I said advocates to be nice. Other commonly know phrases one would say..."nut swingers, tree huggers, brown noisers, cheerleaders....etc." I chose a more professional word such as advocates.

 

This is true. But some do it at the expense of others...

How in the F|_|CK is it not needed you jackass?! They are merely telling them "hey go check out Dezod they have 07 Kits ready, on the shelf and ready for delivery." So ifsofacto they are HELPING someone getting a turbo kit and also HELPING a company make a sale.... I believe that is what you did all the freggin time when you rode the ____ outta Kenny and ZPI's nuts back in the day.

Why dont you go on the Sonata Forums now and go create drama or just STFU on SL about ZPI and Dezod. If you see someone has a question about products between ANY company on this site, why not just PM them from now on?
