This is what got me interested all of the sudden. Lend an ear, this is a rare moment. This man (Paul Talbot) gives his soul to the audience, and they love him... absolutely beautiful.

Oh, that was a nice video! My husband even sat and watched it with me.

I didn't like the Paula Abdul woman making all those faces during the video though. lol

I only listen to opera music when I was studying back in college. It helps my mind relax and store information at the same time. :D

The bold, dark stylings of Carmina Burana gets me off.

Opera is a powerful genre with tremendous talent and musicianship.

I've never been able to get into opera, not that they can't sing, I absolutely respect the fact that they can sing their butts off and the tone is incredible.

I do like Josh Groban, but that's about as close as I've been able to get.

BTW, here's some info on the video that I linked above.

The show it's from is 'Britains Got Talent'. The singer is Paul Potts (from what I could find out), and he has had some minor opera experience as a singer. The song he's singing in the video is 'Nessun Dorma', from the opera Turandot. This song is is a signature of the mega-famous opera singer Luciano Pavarotti. Here's his wiki, if you'd like to learn more.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luciano_Pavarotti

---

Also, here are the lyrics to Nessun Dorma, translated into English:

THE PRINCE
Let no one sleep!... Let no one sleep! Even you, o Princess, in your cold room, watch the stars, that tremble with love and with hope.
But my secret is hidden within me, my name no one shall know... No!...No!... On your mouth I will tell it when the light shines.
And my kiss will dissolve the silence that makes you mine!...

CHORUS OF WOMEN
No one will know his name and we must, alas, die.

THE PRINCE
Vanish, o night! Set, stars! At dawn, I will win! I will win! I will win!

---

Ironically, those are the last three lines of this song, for the audition.
I hope he does well, even beyond this show.
