Default Pet peeves

<rant> The mechanism that automobiles use to stop are called 'brakes', not breaks.

It's the brake pedal, not the break petal. Brake pads, brake rotors, brake fluid, etc.

NOT BREAKS!

I can understand, and completely tolerate typographical errors, and I've made my share of spelling errors.. I've fumble fingered my keyboard enough that I'll only rarely fuss about spelling.

But this is a simple word. Folks have heard this word for a long, long time. It's not a new word in the English language. It's spelled out for you in your owner's manual, and in the maintenance schedule. BRAKES, not BREAKS.

We now return ScionSpouse to his normal, mild mannered self.

good! Thanks for that.
Say, mabe best to put the words "breaks failure!" in your subject header to get the kids to look here.

Homonym spellings. What can we really do? Not much!
Those are the brakes.

one of mine is people who type "pls" or "plz" for please..if you do it more power to you....

but my thinking is if you cannot even spend a tenth of a second longer and type PLEASE then why should I help you? lol

or people who always have to make nicknames...even if the name is already small. There is a member of my family, who I adore ...but they have a lil boy his name is Kyle. It is a 4 letter name ..and they call him "Ky". WTF????? Geez its a 4 letter name!!

My name is Michael so of course I often get called Mike or Mikey...but if your name is 3 or 4 letters already.....why the hell would you try and shorten it????

Off-topic ...I worked with a guy named Ed once, he was a salesmen....he actually once had someone ask him on the phone ..."so Ed how do you spell your name?" ..he replied.."Ed...e-d"

Another common forum misspelling....Quiet -> Quite

"I like a quite exhaust"
"Are there any quite headers?"

Come on guys, it's Q..U..I..E..T

It seems like the most common grammar mistake I come accross on any message board is the misuse of "There" "Their" & "They're." Also, people really seem to enjoy spelling "a lot" as one word.

I will honestly admit I am bad with the whole "their there and they're" thing lol.

And guilty of "alot"...I thought way back when...alot was actually recognized as a word ...I could be wrong and likely am of course.

I hated grammar overall, but do a lot of reading and the reading helps me stay somewhat sharp on things.

You got the deep sea correct, but it's a dry suit, made of rubberized canvas.

That's the mixed gas rig, too. 297 lbs all total.

and that's me inside!
