So here’s the deal, this summer I was in a crash where someone pulled out in front of me and I T-boned them totaling my car and nearly ripping my thumb off. I was 20 at that time.

My family has been dealing with the broker at the other man’s insurance and has recently got a number for my pain and suffering; somewhere in the realms of 21k.
So this weekend they tell me to come by their house and talk about it…this is what they tell me:

“We decided that we are going to pay of your car with that money and put the rest in an annuity…we are in the process of talking to the broker about the details.”

My response:

“Why was I not included in this agreement, as this is my money after all?”

Theirs:

“We don’t want you blowing the money; we don’t trust you with all that money, so we’re doing this so you can’t touch it until you’re 30”

Now my question for you:
Can they do this with my own pain and suffering, can they make decisions about my money with out my consent?
I am on their insurance plan, could that be how they are able to do this or should I have a say since I was an adult when I had that crash?

This is really ____ing my off and this is exactly the kind of crap that made me leave their house to begin with. They try and control me every chance they get, this is a great example I am 21 and they still think they can tell me what to do. God how they make me mad!!!

PLEASE SOMEONE HELP!!!

at this point if the broker doesnt say something I like when I contact her that is what I'll do.
