Default router help.

so i have wireless network in my house. my browser stall. they just dont do anything sometimes. after a few minutes it starts working again. things like limewire and aim work fine. they never stall or anything. so i thought maybe it was my laptop. but then my sister's comp does it to. so i've tried my laptop at other places and it works fine on other networks. just not at home.

is there a refresh rate i just decrease or anything?
i go into http://192.168.1.1/

and i have no clue what's what.

i have a linksys router btw

everyone is 192.168.1.1

That's not your address. What are these "networks" of which you speak?

btw, one knows one hasn't checked in, in a while when one clicks "recent posts" and 5280 posts come up ;)

is your wireless connection public?
did you change the default password?

some neighbors might be messing with you.

check for new frimware first. if your not sure where to find that through your router login then go to linksys home page and search somewhere under support probably.

and if your doing this at home you probably want to hardwire yourself until you fix it. hopefully that's not effected too

I would screw the find out what's wrong method and straight reset it all. the pin hole button should be on the back of the router. Hardwire your PC the hit the button. Start over and set your own password. Should work fine...though im not a fan of D-link.

the reset doesn't fix the problem and firmware is up to date. hardwire works fine i think.
security is on.

You may want to change channels, if your neighbors are running wireless too and turn it on/off all the time your box will pick up a burst of signals and freeze up.

You will have to change channels through the menu and make sure you change channels on your computers too.
