Here's a little game I've been playing in my head for a while in the pursuit of happiness. Call it creating a set of hard-line "standards" for myself of what I find truly attractive in the opposite sex. Of course, once upon a time, these standards started out... well, admittedly pretty low. Many females and facepalms later, I like to think my standards are refined to the point where they're foolproof for my tastes. Of course, that's always nicer and easier to say than to put into practice...

My question for ScionLife is what kind of standards you all hold to the opposite sex; I'm kind of curious as to what other people are searching for, and discussions on such. One specific little bullet point per post - and only post a "standard" every once in a while, if I may be so bold, so this thread doesn't become a clusterfsck within a day (assuming anyone gives a crap). Anything at all, no matter how shallow or deep or sensible or wacky you think it might be. So, here goes:


- I don't really care what kind of music she does like, as long as she equally loathes the same music that I just can't stand. Many a fling has been ruined by a girl's unforeseen love of the new Ying Yang Twins degradation of women or Kenny Chesney's latest warble about tractors, and forcing me listen to listen to such.

 

I'll play this game.

-I personally think she has to be smart. She has to either be in college or recently graduated college. It doesn't matter what she studied as long as it was something she was passionate about.

 

Let me ask my wife what my standards are and I'll get back to you....

Has to have a good sense of humore because I love to laugh and I want him to be able to laugh with me. I have to feel like he could protect me, not because I can't protect myself but because I want to know that if the building started to burn down and I passed out he could carry me out. He can not under any circumstances be a drama queen, if I wanted that I'd be a lesbian, I like men and I like no drama. Must be passionate, I don't care if we agree on everything because I spend all day with myself I don't need a clone at home but I want to know that he will stand up for what he believes in. Oh and it wouldn't hurt to be given flowers like once a year for no reason other than to make me happy.

Come to think of it, I've never had a boyfriend buy me flowers. not once, my father has them delivered to my desk for my birth day and my coworkers will get me some on occasion, but never from a guy.

 

They have to shower at least every other day, brush their teeth, at the least run their fingers through their hair and wear deodorant. Its just wrong to not brush your teeth and stink when trying to flirt with a girl. :?


I've only gotten flowers when my ex was trying to apologize for something. Never a flower for a random day to make me happy, just a reminder that he sucked at apologizing to my face.

 

Your "ambition levels" have to match. If she wants you to rule the world but you're just a slacker looking for a place to crash - fail.

And of course, vice versa. Cause gold-digging women are evil.

 

You gals are finding the wrong type of guys. I've given random unexpected flowers on at least 40 to 50 occasions that I can think of.

 

I guess my biggest standard is that since I'm in the military I would like my girl to NOT cheat on me when I deploy or have to go TDY some place for a month. Like 75% of the military wives/girlfriends are ******. Sooooo many ******. /end rant

 

if I was you, I would cut down on the flower giving since 40-50 is way too many times to give flowers.

My wife likes them everyonce and a while. completly random. I usually do flowers on her birthday and anniversary, but 3-4 times on avg a year she gets them for no reason at all and it is sexy time for sure later that night!!!!

 

I'm guessing all the guys of your type are taken and all the slackers are single

But yea that many times in one year is a bit much!

I like not having to worry about always doing things. Sometimes it's just nice to sit around the house and watch a movie or play video games.

And yes, my girlfriend can beat me in Halo.

 

hubby would get even more sexxy time if he'd freaking buy me flowers, or maybe a stuffed animal.

But he got me a puppy last weekend and he gets infinate free sexy time for that.

 

I didn't say it was in one year. I was talking about my all-time total. I think I give flowers about once a month.

 

It might sound sappy, but my standards around women can be broken down into 1 rule: How you treat your mother is how you should treat a girl. Of course, I ask for the same level of respect back.

Also, integrity, commitment, intelligence, caring, strength (must be able to stand up for convictions), and should have some element of independence (there has to be some balance of being together and being apart with friends, ect) is important to me.

 

She has to have a job unless she is in school full time.

 

the only thing's i really care for are can not smoke turn off,has to have goals in life and want something and no cheating ..my gf soon to be wife is going to school to be a nurse and she will not take any money from me .i kinda like that she wants to do it on her own but i want to help in any way...i pretty much let her do what she wants and i do what i want so trust is very important ...my goals right now are to go back and get my diploma pay off my bills about 5,000 left and buy my house after that my wife said we can get married .she helps and supports me with everything..
