x2

I was wondering the same thing
cos I tagged a couple things as 'shoot'
but then realized u already made 'night shoot', etc
Let's face it, it is not rational to expect people to 'tag' 20,000 images with maybe 100,000 tags without error, so some sort of error-handling system needs to exist.

Every time a new tag is created I get an email. This way I can see the new tags and then go in and join them with other tags that already exist. I will probably create some kind of community fix in the near future, but for now I am handling it.

another way to handle the tags is allow people to select from dropdowns rather than free-form text.

anything tagged as 'other' (undefined) could go up for review by mods, and an additional tag added to the dropdowns.

last page done (for now hehe!)

Did you notice that when you start typing a common tag the text box auto-completes the word for you? I think this is a better way than a droplist. If a tag has more than ten images linked to it then it becomes an autofill word... and they are ranked in order of popularity... so if you start typing 'scion' then 'scion tc' will come up first, then 'scion xb' and 'scion xa'. Check it out.

The autofill makes this a lot easier.

Yup but some ppl type differently than others
photoshoot vs. shoot
Scion tC vs. scion tc

but it looks like it will be fixed later on so all good

Yes, I know they type different things... that is why it emails me every time a new tag is created. Then I can go in and change it to match the common tags. This is really only super important now, in the beginning, but when most of the images get tagged it won't be as important.

Also, caps don't matter... 'Scion tC' vs 'scion tc' will result in the same thing. The autofill still works and all tags are converted to lowercase anyway.

that's nice... i actually thought it was my browser. did you use AJAX for that?

I thought about my droplist comment, and thought, while it makes it easier to prevent fat-fingered data to come thru, it's much less 'usable'

No Ajax, just javascript and some php backend work. Works really good, I am impressed with the script.

Page 15 is finished.

Edit-

Is there anyway to know what percentage of images have been tagged? I'm just curious about the progress.

Ummm... there is no good way to easily code a percentage of the tagged images. Just assume that most of the images are not tagged... so 15 pages out of 400 is almost 4%

Hey XxTamTxX, try doing a few tags on each image, not trying to fit the color and model into a single tag... for example, intead of 'ssm scion xa' do a few tags: 'scion xa' 'ssm' and 'silver'. Thanks for helping!
