Default Shampoo or not? That is the ???

I have a friend who is almost 50 and that man has a full set of hair. I asked him how he does it and he says he doesn't use shampoo and conditioner. He uses Dove bar soap only?
I'm 35 and my hair is thinning. I use shampoo & conditioner all of the time and my hair goes down the drain. He says when he used S&C, his hair went down the drain. Now with Dove, nothing falls out.

Any truth to this Dove or it's just a myth?

Washing your hair every day isn't necessary. Every other shower should be the right amount. (Ask any chick and they'll tell you)

And if your hair is thinning....its NOT your shampoo. lol Its genetic.

Not so in my case. All the men in my family have the exact same hairline, and mine is going the same way. Those bastards.

Just fire your hair instead of having it quit on you.

Go to your dermatologist and get some propecia. Good for stopping and somewhat reversing male pattern baldness - i.e. the "friar tuck" look.

It's good to be a girl. We rarely have problems like this

Get some of that color spray that they show on TV that will fill in the empty spots.

Never! That's really bad! I'd rather shave my head instead of painting it...

x2 yea so true but for the soap thing..eh i think soap drys your hair out dramatically because a bar of soap can do the same with your skin. Hmm however a bar of soap does not have as many chemicals as shampoo or conditioner but then again is your friend's hair really clean? maybe you should smell it

okay...there are some facts and some myths here.

yes, there are lots of ways you can damage your hair with chemicals or neglect or dyeing it too much or something can hurt it. but for the most part, it is genetic.

baldness is a recessive gene carriad on the X chromosome. women have two X chromosomes, so for a woman to be bald, she has to have the recessive X chromosome on both her X's.

but men are XY, so if our one X chromosome has the baldness gene we are doomed to be bald.

now, when a boy child is born, he automatically gets his father's only Y chromosome, but the X chromosome he gets from his mother is random. so there is a 50% chance of the baby boy having baldness in their future.

so in my family, my mother's father is bald, my mom got his one X chromosome with baldness on it, and an X chromosome without baldness on it from her mom. then me and my older brother got a Y chromosome from our father, and we each got an X chromosome from our mother, but which one??? well my brother is 5 years older tan i am, and he has noticible started thinning out on top, and he started shaving his head. and so far i haven't. there is a 50% chance i won't go bald.

but then again, my brother has done stuff like peroxide and dye his hair, whcih isn't good for scalp health, which means that he could have accelerated his hair loss, and eventually i'll catch up to him in hair loss, but who knows, i sure don't.
