When you're sick, do you brave it out and go to work or do you call in?

 

My job tells me to go home....over 600 people in a 3 story building.....Dont want that to spread

 

I go to work. Haven't missed a day in 9 years, I've worked through tons of flu's and everything else. They refuse to give us sick days or put us on salary. There is no way I'm putting in vacation time to call in sick. It might be selfish, but forget that.

How do they legally refuse to give you the day off if you're sick?

 

When you all show up to work sick, do you give any thought to other people who don't want to catch what you have and get sick?

It really ____es me off when people come to work sick and puts me at risk of catching what they have.

 

They aren't refusing to give him the day off, they just won't pay for it. He's apparently hourly, so no hours = no money.

It depends on how sick. If I have a fever, I'll stay home. If I'm puking, I'll stay home. If I have a sniffle, I'll OD on the Vitamin C and Cold-eeze, then head to work.

 

All depends on how bad I feel, if im really bad then I wont go in, otherwise a cough or a cold or something small ill go in :D

I do think it's awful to come to work when sick, sick pay or not. I don't want your effing sickness. I realize that people need money but to arrogantly put your need for money over other's health is so wrong.

I get the flu just about every year and it always takes me out a day or 2. I have bad allergies which often result in a chest cold and a day or 2 missed in the spring>summer transition. Woot for great health!


otherwise, I use my "personal leave" for long weekend/mini vacations

 

I don't really have a choice since the store is often short-handed. So I have to tough it out and keep on truckin'. :\

 

I got 4 weeks paid vaca...1 week sick... 2 personal... so if I'm hurtin I aint goin in.

 

Well I don't get sick often but when I do I usually just tough it out. I gotta be pretty debilitated to not go to work. I'm pretty clean and courteous to make sure not to spread the infection but if I feel I could easily spread it around the job, I stay home.

 

I cough and sneeze on people's keyboards and door handles at work.

 

Dave, you should tell them that you need to do your work from home or that they need to be better with not spreading their Asian illnesses, lol. From how you described your work, it sounds like they'd let you.

Sickness is sort of on my mind as I'm sick, again.

usually when im sick i work anyways.. however when i feel i need to have the day off.. i sometimes call in.. the job can be stressful and i usually need to get out.. theres only 7 of us working here sick usually isnt a problem

 

If I'm sick, I go in if I can stand it, I just make sure I stick close to the people that made up out stupid sick day/vacation policy....we get 12 days a year, sick, vacation, whatever you want to call it...they mark it as vacation...
