Default Stoplight Camera Ticket -_-"

alright so a few weeks ago, i was passing through Humble to go to the airport with my grandma and baby sister to drop them off. im approaching a stop light that turned yellow and i was close enough to floor it and make it. so i do so and pass the light as its turning red. my sister tells me she saw a flash coming from a camera but i didnt think much of it cause i made it. i just got home and look at my mail and see that i got a fcukin ticket from humble for 75 dollars!! im sure that we've all tried to make yellow lights and i know i do it every now and then with lights that have cameras on em here but havent ever ran a red light thats been on for a good while but i havent gotten a ticket for doing that here. soo im assuming that Humble is pretty strict about it and dont allow you to do that even if you make it. ___! oh well.

cliffs:
-driving through humble to go to airport
-see light turn yellow and floor it
-made the light and saw flash
-get a ticket in the mail for $75
-humble pwns

I'm glad they don't have these gizmos around here.
There is suppost to be this reflective spray that you apply to your plates that when the flash hits your car the glare obstructs the plate. Don't see how it would work really with the stop light being up there and what not it would have to be a big flash....illegal tho. :]

Except most places are switching to video instead of flash-photography these days.

haha I saw that episode! I also doubt that a spray can make a camera take a bad picture. Nice idea but totally not realistic.

Hey, this is kind of stupid but what do the tickets look like? How many pictures does it take? Also, does it take a picture of the driver so they can confirm you didnt lend your car to a buddy and he lent it to someone else so you're not sure who the driver was or some other kind of "truth" to get you outta paying money?

I always wondered how they figure out how long to make the yellow for the speed of the intersection and how they can expect us to know just when we can stop in time or not. I have seen some really fast yellows on 35mph roads that would have me skidding to a stop before the red came on.

Yeah, that and when it has been raining or snowing real bad here sometimes the light changes and theres no way you're going to try and stop for it under those conditions and you end up blatantly running the light but your only other option would be to slide into the middle of the intersection.

Mmm it's an "official" like letter with a picture of your front plate, rear plate, and a picture of the driver. And if your buddy is riding with you in the passenger seat they block his/her face from the pic. At least that's what my dad's ticket looked like. and damn if it were 75. it was more like 300! for 75 i'd go get a ticket so i could pose in the photo.

We have the cover on our M3 it does work. 10 feet away and you can't make out the plate numbers let alone any other longer distance. I'm surprised I or my wife haven't been pulled over for it. We got it just for that reason, the camera stop photos as she got one in downtown Seattle. It's not a moving ticket. We did get it reduced to half by going and talking to the judge.

On my ticket, there were 3 pictures: an upclose shot of my plate and 2 shots of me trying to beat the light.. -_- they also had the time, day, and which lane I was in when it happened. And my guess is that I might not be able to Lie and say it was my friend or someone else who had my car cause imo they would say something like well you have to take responsibility for it or my friend or whoever has to pay. I could be wrong.

And where'd you get the cover WX? And how much?

25.00. I'll hunt down the receipt.

That ticket was my wife's 1st ticket in 15 years. So, the judge reduced it. It helps when your lawyer is pretty good friends with the judge too..LOL

Always build connections and networking among individuals has always worked for me and my wife.

Hey if you had time to accelerate then you had time to stop . . . sounds like a movie I saw with Jeff Bridges playing an alien reincarnated in a woman's dead husbands body. Red light stop, Green light go, yellow light go faster. Might have looked better if you had the brake lights on, gritting your teeth with your face on the steering wheel looking like you were trying to stop when the camera went off.

yea that sounds like the way it is in Memphis also, I got one. it was like 3 or 4 pics a distance shot a zoom in on my plate, and an even closer one of my plate, date, time, lane, what direction I was headed, at what intersection, and how long the light had been red(like .004 of a sec).

mine was not but $50

Some cities reduce the time for the yellow from 5 to 3 seconds....and too bad that a part of our legal system used to say that we had a right to confront our accuser. How do you confront a camera. Just another one of our liberties wadded up and tossed in the trash in the quest for easy money.

BTW, the fines are split between the people that lease the cameras and the local government. Ought to tell you they are not there to promote safety, just to make money.

look, you can stand trial, but it is pretty much pointless, unless you were actually completely through the intersection before the light was red. if you were, then you could make the argument that you had made it through the intersection before the light turned red.

as for trying to say it was your car, but you weren't the driver, sorry, but unless you actually PROVE somebody else was driving your car, as in your friend admits it was him, (which would be stupid because not only do they have to pay the fine, but they also get the points for it) your stuck paying for it.

the last way out of it that i know of is if your car was stolen. i know this because my buddies motorcycle was stolen, and he reported it, but a few months later he got a camara ticket saying that he was running red lights and speeding etc. but it wasn't even his motorcycle, just his stolen license plates, but he had to go show his documentation that he reported his bike stolen months ago.

anyway dude, just pay it, you don't get points, just the fine, and buy a radar detector because it lets you know which intersections have camaras at them.

That Jeff Bridges movie was Starman-cool movie, kinda funny too.

Portland has the highest number of traffic cameras in the states from what I hear and read in Road and Track or something-those things suck!
