Default tc vs zx3 focus

do you think a mildly modded focus i/h/e would beat a almost stock tc with just an exhaust...

in my opinion i would feel the tc would win by a good bit. but i have no idea about the other car.

just a little question i was pondering...

svt focus would probably beat a stock tc.

meh, a stock 6 spd svt focus vs a stock 5 spd tc would be pretty close.

svt
170 hp
145 torque

tc
160 hp
163 torque

new tc

161 hp
162 torque

using the new sae measures, the tc would have more power than the svt focus. tc wins no matter what.

But what about power to weight ratio? I would think that the focus may be inthe lead since it's small right???

I raced an automatic ZX3 with intake and exhaust. I have an '06 xB and at the time only had an intake, plus I was running my 18's. I got a good launch and was a half a car length ahead the whole time. Once I shifted into 3rd gear I pulled another half a car on it and by the time we hit 80 I was a full car length ahead and then some. We ran from a 40 roll and it was the same result. I know it was an automatic, but I doubt that a header and a 5 speed would make that much of a difference. So if I can take it in an xB, then I'm sure the tC would destroy it. Now the SVT is a different story...

Svt focus would most likely win, as its made for that purpose, its got the handling packages, and the motor made for it.. my roommate owns one, and you can definitly feel the difference..

though he running mods in the svt, including uncatted exhaust..

2004 6 spd svt focus zx3: 2593, 1/4 mile: 15.4
2005 5spd tc: 2930, 1/4 mile 15.6

pretty darn close

And this doesn't include the factor that sits between the steering wheel and driver's seat. Nor does it include conditions. Where are you gonna race? The track, street, or maybe a big parking lot? What's the temp and air like outside? That would be a really good race to see. If they were amateur drivers my money would be on the tC, if they were pros then it would be the Focus.

both cars use 215/45r17 tires,

tc's are z rated, svt's are y rated...hmm...probably summer tires too, gotta go back and check that...

well, car and driver got a tc to do 0-60 in 7.4 seconds while they stated the svt focus took 7.8.

now these are two completely separate reviews years apart and obviously under different coditions, and we are ofcourse pretty bias on this website, tc wins again!

dont forget the MSRP difference....

SVT 3dr $18,590, 5dr $19,090

compared to tc: $16,980

for $1,610-$2,110 you could probably get enough parts to easily beat the svt focus

they've done that. i also saw a video of a ford focus with a windsor v8 under the hood, that thing was rediculously vicious. probably couldn't handle worth a damn.
