I'm not sure, even though I believe so, because there is no proof.

I'm not sure, but I like to keep my options open, so if there is, i probably don't go to hell (I'm agnostic)

No, and I can prove it to you.

Is there a supreme deity?
I don't think there is a supreme being in the sense you mean. Scarlett Johannson may be the supreme being of hotness in my eyes, but thats different.
The Bible was a hell of a story book, but that is what I see it as. I have not read the Quran, and the Torah but I assume they are along the same lines of fascinating story.
As I said in a discussion on the subject, "I believe in me."

I agree with you on your thought of a story but I feel that some of this "story" is actually true and does explain some of our history. I do not and would not believe the bible word for word as it has been changed and altered sooooo many times, many of those to make better for a certain group of people. Though, the morals and lessons taught are good and are the basis by which much of our society comes from.
I believe that there is a God per say but not a being that watches at a distance. I feel the God is one with nature and that if one wanted to be close or have a relationship all they would need to do is go to nature and listen. Ofcourse I also feel the one's spirit returns to the source and you know the rest. I know it sounds very loopy and hippy-ish but for me it explains it all.
I orginally was Mormon but I found that organized religion never really worked for me. I never liked the thought of being there as a social event or being judge (though many say they don't it's still there silently) by others.

You're missing an option... Yes, but you cannot PROVE it. If you could, EVERYONE would believe it. Anyhow, everybody HAS to have faith. They may have faith in God or they may have faith that there is no god. Eveyone has to make a decision on what they believe. It is called there worldview, or the "glasses" that they perceive the world with. I for one made a decision to believe in God, becuase all the evidence (to me) points in that direction. And since it was mentioned above, I do believe that the Bible is 100% true, and that there is A LOT of evidence that points in that direction too... Anyhow, I'd be interested in seeing where this thread goes, but it is also hard to provide evidence through a forum, and discuss the millions of facets that go with choosing your beliefs. So I hope I at least answered the poll question...

It is a belief that requires faith and faith is knowing something without being about to see or prove it (but ofcourse we all know this). You're not going to get the physical proof that you want, but it seems that you already know that and your just trying to prove some point about religion...but then again I could just be taking this the wrong way.

Only theists will accept that mumbo-jumbo that you've all been taught to say in the face of reality and truth. I went to church and christian school for 15 years, i study religion and history for fun. Bring something new to the discussion.
there's only one kind of proof, "real proof".
you can hypotheisize, wonder, believe, have faith, guess, or make up all you want to about deities, but proving is something I doubt anyone here will be able to do.
and let me guess, you'd like to see someone "prove one doesn't exist"?
that's not how proving things works. Anyone who actually knows about the scientific method will tell you, you can prove something "is", but proving something "isn't", especially if you can't run any test on it, can't be done. that's not how "proving something" works.
Jeez...where to start....
OK. It's 1:00am and I'm tired, so I'll just post a bit and get back to this thread later when I'm rested and can really get into the nitty gritty. This could get very interesting.
Thanks Dave. :D

I don't think there is any supreme being. I think that God, Allah, or whatever you want to call "him" was made up to help explain the unexplainable and to make people feel better about whatever.
