I grew up in Illinois and moved here to LA a few years back. Houses our here go for 700k to start. And that will probably need some serious work. I HATE that about living out here. Trust me, the mid-west isn't that bad. No traffic, clean air, good housing prices.

I saw one of those housing shows not too long ago, and a 1200sq ft 3/1 needed a minumum 50k in repairs was going for 400k. It was also in Watts.

yep, thats about right. I could find something for 400 or 500 but i'd probably have to commute way out from one of the suburbs. And trust me, traffic would be so bad, it wouldn't be worth it. So I guess I'll just suck it up and take it like a man! LOL! Also, your post above was so freakin hilarious. I still laugh when I read it! lol

You are officially the first person I've ever seen recommending to go to Carbondale and do something besides drink.
Well, yeah. I can see that. It was a lot worse a few years ago. SIUC has this whole "new image" thing going on now...

Yup, it's good. (But I'm not really into the camping/hiking thing. Nice to visit anyway.)

Yup, the Dells does get old, especially when dealing with the thousands of other tourists in a tiny place.

Carbondale used to have a rocking pizza place called Quattro's, but I hear it closed down. i also hear that it's opened again, but I can't find anyone to confirm the rumor.

yeah the dells can get old, with those "thousands of tourists in a tiny place" being the definition of " a day at a water park"...
One nice ride ( depending on time of year ) is crossing into MN thru Lacrosse, then head north to the twin cities. The drive along the Mississippe River ( depending on time of year ) could get you some nice photo opps of bald eagles. They can be quite impressive. And there are a few stops along the hiway where you can pull over for some viewing.

Quatro's is good stuff, I ate there last week. I've never heard of it being closed down...
