hey.. i ahve a question... kinda political, but 100% honest.. im pretty new to the election process but here it goes..
i live in NY and if the state declared itself as a democratic state, what use is it to vote?

Lots of reasons. First off, the electoral college isn't everything. The better a candidate does in the popular vote, the better it generally is for them.
Also, there are numbers of local races and other issues that you will be voting for as well. You're not just voting for president. House/Senate, depending upon what's up this year for you guys. Judges, and other issues.
California is voting on Prop 8 which is a proposal to ban ___ marriage. Illinois voted for a gubernatorial recall (which was cool, because our gov is a horribly corrupt douche bag.
So yea, it's always important to vote.
