Default Two moving violation in one week -- both speeding

I got my first speeding ticket because a car behind me was on my ___, so i punched it for a moment. 56 on 40. blah

Then a few days after, I was driving my friends RSX-S for the first time and he told me to 'feel free'. I hesitated, in my head i was saying no -- and my friend in his EvoMiR next to me didn't help. I check the road, condition, no cars... late at night.. so i did it.. and it felt good. I didn't speed too far just a short length. I started slowing down knowing a light signal ahead. As i approached a stop light i was already at the correct speed and i see lights flashing from the FRONT of me.. like a good football field length. wtf he radared me that far and from the front. blah#2

He gave me a break on it though. Wrote 69 on a 50 when it was suppose to be 80 on a 45. I told him also about the other speeding ticket I got a few days ago. Officier told me that I would be able to clear both the point(s) if I do traffic school for the first one (online), and for this one, do (2) 8 hour classes traffic school. I hope this is true because I thought you can only do one within a year and half period.

Yeah. I'm an idiot. At least I took some precaution before doing it however.

I have three questions. (1) Has anyone got two moving violations within a short period? I would like to know your experience. (2) Was what the officier said is true? (3) How much did one point on your driving record increase your insurance by? I'm paying 140/month atm. All State.

California btw. Moving violation are 1 point.

Tailgating kills, not speeding. The cop should have given the idiot behind you the ticket in the first instance.

What you should've done about that tailgater is just keep going the speed limit, and then wait for him to angrily pass you at speed limit + 20. Then he'll get nailed for "speeding" and "following too close"

My wife and I have Nationwide and she got pulled over for 75 in a 55 last year. It was 4 points on her license and I think you lose 2 points for every year of clean driving so she didn't fight it or go to traffic school. Also, our insurance never increased, I don't know if they ignore it if it is your first ticket or what. Besides that we both have 100% clean driving records no tickets and no insurance claims, so that might have something to do with it.

I had two violations in a 2 month span. One was running a red light and the other was speeding in a school zone. Before anyone _____es to me about speeding in the school zone I did not know that school had started and missed the blinking light. I was doing 25.5 in the 15.

Both were 3 points each so I had to go to driving school to reduce my points or I would have has my license suspended for a few months. But my insurance never went up.

When I got the tc an changed to Geico they said I had a clean driving record. So I’m not sure where they got the info from. I guess it just all depends.

we dont have a points system here. i haven't gotten tickets that close together, i only had 3 go to my record (90, 93, and 89 in a 70), most i got reduced to inproper parking or just removed all together.

Well you would be able to clear the first ticket with traffic school but not the second one. this link would help you since you are in la county. http://www.lasuperiorcourt.org/Traffic/index.asp?RT=EX click in traffic school list.

When you have a little extra time, this is how you deal with tailgaters:

1) Let off the throttle to let them come as near to your rear bumper as possible
2) Slam on your brake pedal like there's no tomorrow
3) While doing this, make sure the guy doesn't run off

You get a new bumper for free, good times

never speed up, because you've let them win. If you're in a left lane, just move over if you can

remember, scumbags don't deserve to win

when its on a two lane street, i am usually in the left lane and if some is tailgating me then i will speed up so that i am parellel to the car in the right lane, and then slow down to match his speed and guess what.. the tailgater is trapped in haha.. i will not move, and he is stuck.

if its on a one way street, i will just drop my speed real real slow so he starts flashing and honking.. that happened once, i got kinda scared, 3 guys in that car, only me in mine.. however i wasnt driving my car, so i wasnt scared, they wouldnt recognize me.. they gunned it up to 70-80, i was going about .. 35 in a 55 zone and BAM , they get pulled over.

^ That's so darn funny. When I was 19, my best friend and me used to carpool to college together and that was our everyday fun. Pi$$ poeple off by just going way to slow in the one lane streets or just go parallel with some slow bastard and don't let them pass. BTW, weapon of choice. Chevy Astro Van
But don't do it no more, pi$$es me off when someone does that to me

Trust me... you don't want to get rear-ended. I was recently hit from behind, and my neck and back are in a lot of pain over it. Your health and well being is way more important than winning out over some jerk on the road.
