Default UFC 88 Breakthrough

OMG....who saw the fight tonight? Chuck Liddell vs Amad Rashad

Beautiful fight...simply classic. This one is going to have to go into the "Best of 2008" fight moments.

The same goes for liddell. Rashad bobbed and weaved everything he threw at him. Then he found Liddells rhythm and timed him. He was faster, and beat him to the punch. Liddell went for the uppercut "after" Rashad was going for the overhand right. He was trying to beat time him and beat him, but he realized real quick that he was not faster than Rashad.

Rashad is good man, but to be in the 'elite' weight class of the UFC, he's kind of boring. I think the slowest fight ever in the history of the sport could be Evans vs. Machida, and that's a possibility if Rashad knocks off Forrest.

I'm more interested in seeing Coutoure vs. Lesnar. I can't believe this is actually happening. Not that I give Brock much of a shot, but just the fact that Dana is throwing away the future to get back the past.

Rashad boring? I guess everyone is entitled to their opinion. I for one thing being undefeated, and delivering some good K.O. power isn't all that boring

Don't get me wrong man... Rashad is making some history in perhaps the deepest division in this sport in the world. His style is just a little too defensive for me to pop for a PPV buy. I'm still going to Hooters to down some beer and wings though. UFC fans just take over that place on fight nights.

Yeah, the common phrase I hear used to describe Rashad is 'lay and pray', as in he lays on top of his opponent and waits for the decision. That hasn't been the case with the Chuck fight, and that other dude who he kicked... I thought he killed that dude. But most of Rashad's fights have been boring compared to someone like a GSP or a Nogueira. When Rashad gets the lead on the scorecards, it seems like he goes into survival mode. Maybe that's changing. We'll know when he fights Forrest, 'cause Forrest comes to throw down. Boring is also in the eye of the beholder. Alot of people think Machida is a boring fighter, but he's undefeated as well, and he keeps it standing.

Like I said, though... Rashad is making history. Not everyone can be a Silva, or a Miguel Torres. Evans does what he needs to do. It's worth seeing, just not worth $$$ to see it at home.

^^I see. When I look back at his fights, I have always taken him as being a counter striker. He is looking for your mistakes, and he is damn good at that. Finding the opponents rhythm and then capitalizing on it. I like that, vs someone who is just straight-up offensive. I think he can attack when he wants to, but what he is doing is definitely working for him. I think he has good defense, unlike a lot of fighters I see. I don't understand the whole covering up your face and that is the only defense I see. BOB AND WEAVE FOOL!!! BLOCK SOMETHING! DAMN!

Did you hear about Evan Tanner passing away? Sad...sad..

Yeah. I heard about Evan Tanner, but through Yahoo. You'd think UFC would have said a little more. Maybe they'll dedicate a match to him at the event on Spike on Wednesday. Tom Riddle wrote a very nice piece on mmajunkie, inspired by Tanner's passing. You always figure these guys are out of touch like most athletes going for shoe deals and what not, but what he wrote just showed they're just like us at the end of the day.
