^^^ Right now an '05 Aveo books at about $2300 less than an xA (when similarly equipped), just think of the difference in another couple of years!

Let the flaming begin.

The Aztec? Well that's a different story. It was surely designed under the influence of some sort of illegal sudstance.
I think that you're on that illegal substance. How else could you say that your xA compares to a Daewoo Lanos...umm...I mean Chevrolet Aveo in looks, or anything for that matter...

Hey, you said let the flaming begin

^^^ Indeed I did.

J/K...

I really wasn't comparing the two per-se. I was mearly stating that, in terms of equipment, her car tops mine. You can't get cruise control, keyless entry, moonroof, rear spoiler, foglamps and alloy wheels on the xA from the factory. Some of these items can be had from the dealer or port, but not "from the factory".

As for looks? Hey, they're both small 4-door hatchbacks that have an overall similar look.....though I do like the look of the xA better when it boils down to it.

I do have to say, that her car has a vastly better ride than mine. Dare I say her Aveo is quite smooth.

Anyway, I'm not here to argue which car will have a better resale/trade-in value or which one will be more reliable, just that the Aveo...at least in the loaded up LT hatch trim, is probably on-par with the xA in most catagories.

Interesting note.....to compete better with the some of the other imports, GM offers a 3y/36k bumper to bumper and a 5y/60k powertrain warranty on the Aveo.

BTW, MSRP was $15970. I think she ended up paying about $13,200 for it. $770 cheaper than my base xA 5spd with side air curtains. $2800 dollars off on a $15,970 car? You could tell GM really wanted to push some units out the door!

I think the word you are looking for is had. It's very expensive being a GM dealer right now, and if your sister's GM dealer is like 99% of the GM dealers in the country, she had her pick of about 50 Aveo's on the lot.

Aztec for anything recent wins, hands down. I call them ___-tec's.

My dad had a Gremlin when I was a kid (keep in mind it was 1973). It was brown with an orange racing stripe on each side. Terrible car. My mom hated it.
Ever see a Gremlin X with the Levi blue jean interior? Stylin'

Sorry but I'd rather drive a box than a egg. The 07 Aveo looks so much better. Go to chevy.com to see it.

GM's new approach to cars is to let their overseas subsidiaries develope the cars, then bring them stateside. look for the trend to continue as they continue loosing money

Cobalt/Ion = Opel Astra
GTO = Holden Monaro (to put the GTO into perspective, in other markets it's badged as the Chevy Lumina, now how you feel about drivin a GTO?)
Aveo = Daewoo Kalos, Daewoo Gentra starting in 2007
HHR = while not duplicated in any other market, is built on the same platform as the before mentioned Cobalt/Ion

etc etc so on and so forth. to their credit, the Sky/whatever pontiac called their again I forget/Open GT were designed in the US first, curiously thought Opel used it to revive an retired model, while the US released as a new model, so hmmm

Trying to mimic the japanese automakers maybe? by importing/exporting cars that did succeed in other markets to the states?

I don't think the xA looks bad at all, and with only a little bit of work, the xB goes from "ho boy" to "holy medusa" (in a good way). Good call on the Rendezvous though, that thing is ugly as *****.

I'd have to say that the new face of the Aveo reminds me of the Navigator/Aviator fiasco at FoMoCo! Their faces look identical, and what's up with the Altezza's?
