Default Verbal Speeding Warning that bad?

Just got pulled over for speeding.

Was doing 50 in a 35, but I thought it was a 40 mph speed limit.

Anyways, he just handed me my license and registration with just a VERBAL warning.

Is this something I need to worry about? Something I need to tell my parents before they find out on their own, that is if they find out?

Yea, I know I was stupid for speeding but hey, everyone makes mistakes right?

If you don't have a piece of paper with a court date, forget about it. No one will ever know except you, him, and anyone that passed by while you were stopped.

From what I've heard a verbal warning means that your driver license number is in the state driving points system. The next time you are pulled over, the police officer will notice that you've been flagged for speeding before and may not be as forgiving.

HOLD UP!!! Just because you weren't GIVEN a citation doesn't mean you're in the clear.. I got pulled over for speeding.. Long story short.. I asked what i was clocked at, he said they didn't clock me..just estimated I was doing 80 in a 45!!
I said i didn't think so, and could they prove that, etc..

He came back with my license and insurance card and said I'd just be getting a warning, to look for something in the mail. Sweet, rite?

Not! 1 week later i get a $115 dollar ticket for "something about traffic devices.." BS@!\!!! On the citation I got in the mail, it was clearly missing my signature denoting I had actually received the warning in the first place.

I was ____ed and contemplated fighting it, but then I thought that if I fight it, the judge mite get ____ed and just slap me with some points, which would probably cause my license to be suspended. So I decided to just pay the fine.

But I'm sure it went on my driving record...even though it was supposedly a "WARNING".... BEWARE, PIGS ARE PIGS!

He never told me I would ve getting anything in the mail.

Are you sure that the letter you got wasn't because of the officer that pulled you over, but because of an radars that are mounted at lights and stuff. Iono...

nope..i took off from a green lite, there was a Ford F150 tailing me..as i accelerated, he stayed with me..almost rite on my bumper (in the other lane). Mind you, it was 1:30am and it was an unmarked car, so i didn't know what was going on..so i sped up to get away from him, next thing i know i got 2-3 COP cars in my rearview. They said they "estimated" how fast i was going by how fast they had to go to catch up with me and how long it took, etc...

Total BS

Don't forget that different states have different ways of doing things....

like some states require you to sign the citation...
some just give you the summons...
others will mail you something...

in MA you should be fine.

there are verbal warnings (you are free and clear)
there are written warnings (you have to be good for a few months)
then the summons.

The thing is, they never GAVE me any citation or even had me SIGN ANYTHING that nite... the whole thing was a setup (entrapment)

I talked to me fellow tC friend then next day, and he said there's 2 F-150's undercover that drive around and goat people into speeding , etc..

Several years ago there was a unmarked Mustang doing that around here. They said he would get so close you couldn't see his headlights. That was until he met up with someone who did the opposite. They braked and he slammed right into them, supposedly hard enough to release the air bag. That stopped him.

^^^ it is in some states.(not NJ)

But then again, if people did not break the law, Police would not be needed.

I'll give you the real skinny on MA tickets considering I got one and fought it and I did all my research on the state of Massachusetts and they're **** state cops. I've gotten verbal warnings before and that's it. I've gotten written warnings too,
it looks like a ticket except you owe no money on it and no court date. You'll be fine, just slow down and take it easy, especially on Route 3, which is now littered with state cops driving their regular cruisers and now they also drive those Chrysler Concordes in blue.
Especially when your getting towards the end when it says 95 2 miles, they love to set up traps there now.

I've heard Lowell Cops can be a$$es. I only go their for school. I was caught up in Hudson right before that Walmart. You might know where it is.

Take it slow on that road too, you may think the speed limit is pretty high since its about 3 lanes wide for each side but it ain't.

I'm contemplating getting a detector right now so this won't happen again. Or I might just start going the speed limit.

last week my 17 year old (girl) got pulled over for going 50 in a 20....normally it is a 40, but during school hours, the flashing yellow tell you to go 20. He cut her a "break" and put that she was going 40 in a 20.....what did the ticket cost? $242. Who's going to pay? Not us!

Cops in New York City have to get certified to estimate speed to within 5 percent without equipment, so that means they can give you a ticket for speeding without a gun or anything. The warning this is a good break and you dont't need to worry about telling your parents. Just dont get caught or do it again because there is no mercy then.
