What do ya think?
Well i was just informed one of my friends got a ticket for going 110. It was a 65 area. Do you think this is a guarenteed loss of license, he is 16. and again my other friend got one for 55 in a 25... withing the first MONTH OF HAVING HIS LICENSE... haha what do ya guys think?
That MIGHT spell at least a 6 month suspension unless he comes up with a good plea. I'd be begging to go to a driver safety course, some community service, and ask for a lowere charge of improper driving, but that might be difficult to sell.
Better hope he wasn't caught or accused of racing. You are less likely to weasel out of a reckless ticket and potential suspension if you get busted racing.
You have to consider that doing 110 on the highway is potentially extremely dangerous to the driver and other drivers on the road from the court's perspective and it shows a disregard for others' safety.
Hope it works out and I hope he learned his lesson. Rest assured that if his insurance company didn't drop him, his rates will skyrocket when the insurance company finds out.

The laws may be different where you are at, but here in Texas, 30+ over the legal limit can be considered reckless driving, which seriously ups the possibilities of losing the license for a few years, minor or adult. It all depends on the entire situation. More than likely, they will not be getting their licenses back until they are at least 18.
I also agree that, if the courts don't do it, the parents should. If I had a kid who got caught doing 110 in a 65, I'd break my foot off in his @$$! Driving a car would be the last of his worries.

If he gets charged with reckless driving, he can kiss his license away til he's 18, depending on the state. Tell him to start saving his lunch money and get a good lawyer, which will cost a few thousand at least.
I love the responses already to this thread. Have none of you ever broken the speed limit before? Sure 110 is fast, but if he crashed, you wouldn't be able to really tell much of a difference between that and 95 or even 85. He's lucky and unlucky he got caught. At least now he won't mess around, but it sure is going to cost him.
