What do you guys do to kill time at work?
Yea Im normally busy enough that my 8 or 10 hour shifts go by quickly. But Saturday and Sunday nights at 10pm answering phones for a medical supply company isn't usually the busiest line of work.
And boy does it drrrraaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaagggg sometimes.
But Tom's idea of finding a new job is actually in the works. It's much easier to find a job when you already have one. So I'm trying to make the next step and get something a little less mind numbing.

Trust, I loaded and unloaded pallets for a food distrubutor for a year. Pulled orders, loaded trucks, etc.. etc...
I was also a plumbers apprentice digging ditches in July heat in corona, CA straight out of HS!!
Ive had my fair share of suck jobs. I count my blessings every day. But I need some sort of mind activity/stimulation. Staring at walls sucks just as much as loading pallets.

You should try to actually work. The day goes by much faster. JK
I googled my home town newspaper and found out they have an on-line newpaper that i like to read and catch up on whats going on. Also like to explore google earth and maps.live.com and look up where friend and family live and check out thier homes.

Hmmmmmmm... Now that I know what sort of job you have, let me add one other thing I did when I was unavoidably stuck on night duty covering the emergency response center phones, listening to the old Teletype machines talk to themselves in the background: Read a book.
I'm a reader, so I could easily get involved in a book for hours at a time. Passed the dull times between the panicked phone calls quite well.

I walk around campus. My job sucks. They yell at you when you're in the office not doing work when theres no work to do. but if you go out and you're not in the office to answer the phone they yell at you too. Its a lose lose situation. I just leave and check in every so often. Not much to do working IT for an Engineering school.
I go take like a 30 minute dump and get in a few innings of Derek Jeter Baseball on the cellphone. Use the normal toilet, cause the taller handicap ones make your legs go numb after like 10 minutes.

My uncle always used to tell me, "When you get a job, spend as much time as humanly possible in the bathroom."
He's a lazy SOB.
once the managers is gone, i go to sleep or watch movie from my flash drive.
