I have a friend who keeps on buying/selling his laptop just to find what suites him. So to save him time and money, do any of you guys know a recommended laptop for extreme graphic processing combined with a powerful processor, large RAM, and a fast hard drive RPM that is atleast 100Gb?

lol..no such thing.

gamers already know this, main reason being is power consumption. Running "new" video games is 80% about what graphics card you got. When cards are new, they suck mad loads of power, like 300+watts by themselves, as much or more than what entire laptops run on.

Yeah, I was telling him to go for a desktop, but he said he wants mobility too. He's just so stubborn and stupid! LOL!

 

everyone wants mobility, but here's the thing.

I can build a great gaming machine(all top brand parts) for "X" amount of dollars
or
I can buy a decent gaming machine made by alienware or dell(mostly no-brand parts) for for "X x3" amount of dollars.
or
I can buy a 90% as good laptop for "X x5" amount of dollars.

in 1 year, if you own a tower, when the current newest video card for gaming gets down to $200-$250, i can just buy that and get an aproximately 60% increase in framerates for the same game.

ALIENWARE, and if he doesnt want to cash out for one, tell him get a desktop

 

Brand Names dosen't really matter when it comes to PC builders. Alienware and Dell's XPS line will offer about the same hardware. Just let him know to be prepared to drop at least $2500 on a decent laptop for gaming. Or you could spend about 1,000 to 1,200 (If you have to add a monitor) and have a pc MUCH better.

 

^^ That's what I'm thinking too. I'm convincing him not to get that laptop because of its price tag. On second thought, it's not my money anyway.

alienware is stupid expensive. you can find all of their equipment for half their price. there is such a thing as a gaming laptop. they are called desktop replacement laptops. you can create your own (google build a laptop) or you can purchase one from another company. hp has a high end laptop out (roughly 2k though) but it runs like a beast. runs a little warm though. they have multiple graphic card laptops out as well now but your talking serious money. and considering not any games graphics can go anywhere near their processing power it would be a good future upgrade.

 

there is no such things as a decently priced uber gaming laptop i have a gateway 7550 and it does a really good job with MOST games, but some games not so much...like oblivion and stuff that like it, it struggles.


You could buy an alienware for thousands of dollars, or build your own desktop for a ton less.

If you gonna game it up, i would get a custom built desktop instead of a laptop, because with laptops, you are also paying for compact size....

yep! but in turn a fully built desktop replacement laptop will be about 4k to 5k. same with a desktop.

 

Just a little side note.... Dell owns Alienware now....

I have a Dell and it does really well for almost every game I play on my dell, it has a 7900GS and I love it.

 

This one should do the trick, but for the newest, biggest games you'll have to crank it really fast.
