Who Listens to AM Radio & Why???
I was listen to am radio today, I was traveling way way away from home today. And I was near Yale Michigan in the thumb area. And I just was like, ehhhh whats this AM button do.
Church discussions....... Lots of sixties music....country story songs..........
In the mist of fields and open acre-age......... who knew I'd keep it on
Maybe because I was somewhere new, or just a little lost,... but yeah....... AM
Its like another world out there.

Hey that's it. I was listening to AM Disney....... There were call in's Two girls playing cards............and the radio host was like lets talk to your cousin........ the one that always beats you playing cards....
They were all into the little girls card game like it was great.
I was like there playing big hand takes little had................there's no skill in that. But the host was hyping the two girls up.
makes me want to make kid friendly music and get radio play. (If I could make music)

I used to listen to AM so I could hear Coast to Coast AM. Night time talk show about the paranormal. Its always worth the time if your up in the middle of the night. Nothing like crazy people calling in. But C2C is on XM so no more AM for me.

news radio traffic and weather on the 9s'
So much for their originality
back OnTopic n OffTopic? The station quality/connection is crap on half of them.......... I have to change to a new one like every 20 miles as opposed to FM which is like every 200 miles...........
I dont' think AM should even exist anymore if "good shows" are leaving.
I felt like they were going to give the unabridged reading of Jurrasic Park for the highlight of the broadcast.
Oh and this just came to me too!! "AM is for those people who refused to pick up a keyboard, and learn how to use the computer to complain about things on their mind (bloggin)" just a talk radio opinion!?!?!?!? Who's with me on that 1?

As the joc of a morning radio show that is on the AM dial I must throw in my vote for AM radio to stay. I am a firm believer that radio should be free just like local TV channels. I have worked at many FM stations and have done both music and talk radio. Most of the people who listen to my station tune in for the personalities that they can't hear on FM anymore. It's becoming more and more difficult to find a station that you can listen to with your kids in the car or one that even has live jocs. The new "Jack" and "Jill" formats are leaving a lot of radio personalities out of work. I do other things in addition to the morning show so it's not as bad for me. I do stand up, write comedy and voice commercials. It's sad to see a medium that started so many artists and trends fading away in favor of "unrated" radio on satellite.
I hope you'll all continue to listen to your free radio from time to time just to keep a reality check on the original amplitude modulation. (AM)
AM 1510 KSPA "Bringing back the hits of the 60's, 70's and 80's."

I grew up on AM radio. At one time I even worked on AM (and FM) radio. I was never 'drive time' but I was there - days and evenings.
I used to listen to Les Crane (and then Ira Blue) on KGO-AM from the Hungry Eye in San Francisco back in the '50's and '60's, but these days I mostly use AM to catch up on the Seattle Mariners, occasional NPR, and those "Tune to 530AM" or "Tune to 1610AM" - "for traffic bulletins if lights are flashing" signs at the side of the freeway...

Here in Washington we got a HUGE announcement yesterday that our biggest station (broadcasts on 1 AM and 2 FM frequencies in the market) is now going to be broadcast on FM only. Taking it's place on the AM band will be a joint venture between that station and the Washington Post. Judging from the station big cheeses' description of it (long form news, like a commercialized NPR, but I'm sure not nearly as interesting) it's going to tank, and we're going to lose another AMer altogether in DC.

A few years ago I had a pretty long commute to work and I was getting sick of my cd's and I really have never liked the FM stations here in Houston so I put on the AM dial and found the phil hendire show which was hillarious. He's not on in Houston anymore, but I still listen to AM talk quite a bit. I really like listneing to Glen Beck in the mornings he's hillarious. Can't stand Rush though. I just can't listen to an overweight dousch talk about how great he is for hours at a time.
