Short answer: People fear what they don't understand.

Long answer... the "hot rod" crowd will never fit in with the "tuner" crowd. Especially "tuners" driving boxes and toasters. Some people just don't appreciate the uniqueness of some of the rides.

As for the Celica people... who knows. Some people are just idiots.

I've never been a real fan of the xB since I saw one way back when and just thought "wtf was that?!" But they have grown on me slightly and I can at least appreciate the work put into them and like to see them around.

Well now you can all see why I hang with the Scion crew when I have a Toyota Celica..because of the attitude difference! :-)

Those are some of the most ignorant replies I have ever read! So, the boys that like the bug eyed Celicas don't care for the box? Good, because we don't want people with that kind of attitude in the Scion community. There were only a couple of decent posts in that entire thread.

But, that did look like a nice little show! And 27 cars isn't that bad of a turn out... They looked to be good quality entrants.

27 isnt bad but it seems really small when ur in a HUGE high school parking lot.

 

After seeing a lot of links around here to other forums... MANY car people don't like Scions at all. Like the tC kid who got left the note b/c of his huge torque decal - they were ripping that kid up on a lot of forums and that led to everyone ripping up tCs - when they know nothing about them.

And people obviously like to make fun of the box... b/c it's a box. I don't think many people make fun of the xA though. It's the quiet one of the group.

 

One of my smartass answers: Hatersss!!! Another smartass answer: they're just mad cuz they got replaced by the tC, and they got replaced in the Pro/Celebrity Race @ the Long Beach Grand Prix. I think its because the box is different. The other forums I've been to love the tC and smash on the box. Here's my attitude towards stuff like that: FUDGE EM & KEEP ROLLIN!!

xA tends to get love here and there. I had a guy and his wife in a Benz CL500 ask me a ton of questions. They followed me to the Folsom Dealership for a test drive... couple days later after exchanging info, they both got xA...and yes, kept the CL500.

There is also plenty of hate too, mainly around the Honda crowds. I always for some reason have those guys revving their engines up, burning out.. though the last one that tried that did it with a cop behind him..

Figure what happened after that?

We both got cited for "encouragment to race" when I completely ignored the ___...

I wish I could make my car a transformer - id transform into a scion.

 

You could sweet-talk some xB guy that just de-badged his box and re-badge your Celica... Tell folks it is an early tC.....

 

I'm with ack154. They all hate us because we bogart all the attention they wish they were getting. It's stinks of jelousy if you ask me.
I'm to the point of who cares as long as they don't start vandalizing our rides. When that starts it will be time to start kickin some ricer A$$. We all know what we have and nothing they can say will ever change how I feel about my Toaster.

Me personally, I wouldn't drive an xB unless someone bought it for me, but I really do respect the enthusiasm the SE gang up here have for their cars. Heck, I've spent the last couple days building my own on the Scion website for the hell of it. I got my tC because I'm all about "getting to work faster than normal" than just "getting to work".

Like them or not, those damn boxes get looked up and down like no other. And I don't have a problem with them.
