Default Are you ready for Fish Adoption?

Oregonians asked to adopt fish

BEND, Ore. (AP) — For years, television viewers have been urged to sponsor a child. In Oregon, residents are being asked to sponsor a steelhead.

Sponsors can pick a name for their adopted fish and receive regular updates on its activities. The $190 donation — less than what many people spend on coffee in a given year — is tax deductible and sponsors will receive a certificate of adoption and a letter of appreciation from the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife.

The steelhead are to be part of a two-year research study to track the winter fish in the Coquille River system. Once a fish has been caught, either by using nets or a hook and line, it will be fitted with a metal tag that will allow the biologists to track it...

I hear they appreciate Lemon sauce poured on them, good for the skin.....

$190 is a little steep for just one fish though

We've had a program in NC for a while where you can adopt-a-carp http://www.adoptacarp.com/

Yeah, we rock.

A lot cheaper...of course you don't get updates or anything. They pretty much just eat hydrilla... and die.
