FS:VERIZON DROID
Cancellation fee for the Droid, if purchased after November 15th is $350 with a $10/month decrease for each month the line has been active. So he's has it a month which means $350 - $10.
$559 and to sign a 2yr contract just for a subsidized handset that will be irrelevant in 6 months is not smart. If you can't afford to dish out the money for the handset on a Month-to-Month basis you probably shouldn't get it. Not to mention with ETF's of $350 that only decrease $10/month, after 20 months of your 24 month contract your ETF is $150, ridiculous. Just stay contract free.
ecko, why are u such a hater. what phone service do you have? how is a bogo too expensive? the second one is FREE! If you knew anything about how cell phone pricing worked you might actually appreciate the deals the cell companies give you when signing up. seems like with u its all about the price. for me price is important, but im willing to spend a lil bit more for VALUE. you get ehat you pay for and Verizon is by far the best, cant even remeber the last time ive had a dropped call or been in an area with no recption or not been in a 3g coverage area like so many of my at&t and tmobile friends are always complaining about. dont take my word for it, check out consumer reports. Verizon is #1 in all regions surveyed . . . cant beat it
Sorry Sushi, let me get this 1 last thing out...
You have a lot to learn my friend. I have Verizon, have had Verizon for 12 years now, way back when they were AirTouch, actually, my 1st device was a damn bag phone.
Next, you ahve no idea what you're talking about. The device is not free. You are signing a 2 yr contract with an ETF of $350 for any device someone your age would like. That rate decreases at $10 a month, after 20 months of your 24 month contract you would owe $150 if you were to cancel, that is absolutely ridiculous. VZW now requires that all 3G phones have a data plan regardless if you use data more not, just another way to increase ARPU. For example, if someone purchases an enV3 and only wants to talk and text, they still need to pony up $10/month for service they will not use, kinda crude as they are taking away a customers right to choose.
Now let's take a look at these supposed "new plans". Here's the breakdown of how people using the 450 or 900 minute Nationwide Connect plans will pay more money under the new plans. The price of the 450 minute Nationwide Connect plan is $69.99/month and the 900 minute one is $89.99/month and they’re currently available with the 3G multimedia devices listed in the document. Under the new plans, to get 450 minutes with unlimited messaging and data, you’d have to get the Nationwide Talk & Text 450 minute plan for $59.99 plus $29.99 for unlimited data for a total of $89.98/month, an increase of $20 over the Nationwide Connect 450 minute plan. To get 900 minutes with unlimited messaging and data, you’d have to get the Nationwide Talk & Text 900 minute plan for $79.99 plus $29.99 for unlimited data for a total of $109.98/month, an increase of $20 over the Nationwide Connect 900 minute plan. To summarize, if you're currently using a 3G multimedia phone with a 450 or 900 minute Nationwide Connect plan, it's cheaper to stick with it.
From what I understand the majority of people on individual plans are on the 450 and 900 minute plans (but I could be wrong) so the new data plan requirements have the potential to increase their bill.
For people who are 1350 minute plans or higher, they're getting a price cut on their voice plans. For example, the price of the Nationwide Select (the includes unlimited messaging) 1350 minute plan is $99.99 and the unlimited is $119.99. The upcoming Nationwide Talk & Text plans are equivalent to the current Nationwide Select plans except there is no Nationwide Talk & Text 1350 minute plan. It jumps straight from 900 minutes to unlimited and the unlimited only costs $89.99 which is only $10 more than the 900 minute plan. It's also $10 cheaper than the current Nationwide Select 1350 minute plan and $30 cheaper than the current Nationwide Select unlimited plan. With the 3G multimedia phones you'll still be required to get some sort of data plan which will take away part or all of the savings.
You most likely haven't been with Verizon long enough to experience their constant degradation in customer service as well as call quality and dropped calls. You never know the statistics behind Consumer Reports because you ahve to be a member to participate in the surveys so more members may belong to one carrier vs the other, effectively skewing the sample set and thus the results of the survey. Verizon is awesome at nickle and dime tactics to get money out of their consumer base and offering less and less service for that. I didn't say Verizon was not good, I said that you should not be bound by any contract and you shouldn't. WHen was the last time you signed a contract for internet or cable tv? Probably not within the last decade. With that being said, no one want to keep the same device for 2 years anyway, it is obsolete in 6 months and certainly after a year. If you're under some false illusion that VZW can't be beat then you're severely mistaken, they can and ultimately will.

I dunno then bro, you might want to hold off a few months then. I know you want the iPhone, and I do too, but the rumormill has been speculating that AT&T's exclusivity will end soon and Apple will release an iPhone for Verizon shortly thereafter, sometime in June/July.
