Saw you guys driving down Gaglardi Way after the November meet. I was peddling my bike up the hill - the call to mountain bike was far too tempting.
I don't know if I can make the December meet as I might be on a business trip, but I'd love it if somebody could tell me how to remove the lower dash panel (below the steering wheel) to access all the wiring.
Tried looking at the DIY threads on the clubxb forum, but you need 30 posts to see the pics!?!? Didn't feel like spamming the forum.

spotted your xb on the way down from sfu. I was in the rs1
I'm not sure how the lower panel comes off, but I do believe there is some screws behind the center panel, beside the map box thingy
Oh yeah, I really doubt that I will make the dec meet, my 3 yr old daughter is in a christmas production at church in the morning

Are you talking about the lower steering column or the lower dash?
If it is the lower steering column.
Remove screw underneath steering column. looking from the floor upright under the ignition switch
Turn steering wheel 90 degrees to the right and remove the hidden screw on the front face . Do the same on the left.
Pull down plastic steering column cover and then pull up on the top part. They are held in place with plastic tabs. So just give it a good tug and they'll come apart.
If you are talking about removing the whole lower dash, I am sure it could be done, but most people would remove the upper dash and then they would have access from the top and bottom without having to remove the lower dash, that looks like a LOT of work.
You might as well get your 30 posts out of the way, there is a lot of good info over there, I just checked a few photo posts and made comments on cars I though looked good, not really spamming when your giving out props!!!
Hey CanxB,
Yeah, I meant the lower dash, but I never thought of trying to get to what I needed via the upper dash. I'll give it a try.
I have a friend installing retained accessories power for me (like in GMs, Pontiacs, and newer Fords).
I can't wait!

Are you adding more 12V cig plugs or 120V converted power?
There is some space in the upper dash between the air ducts. See if this link works. and helps

Ok, I just looked up "retained accessories power " I would have liked something like that, but I think I covered my needs, The main one was, rolling up the window after getting the key out, solved with my alarm, and constant power for other needs, so I ran a constant power fuse panel under the dash.
You look like your trickin it out RIGHT. Good job.

I'm having it wired so that the windows and accessories still work after the key has been removed UNTIL the driver's side door is open. I'm not sure of all the specifics but my friend's already made a harness with all the wiring... we are just having troubles accessing where he needs to hook it all up because he can't see anything.
Rims, tires, springs.... those all have to wait until the car's paid off.
I still don't know if I can make the Dec meet. My manager is still talking about sending me out to Philly that day. Really craving that $1 Ikea breakfast, though!

That's great! What I'm saying is that there are scion xb owners in the okanagan and kootenays and so on, it would be great to start a bc club, instaed of just Lower mainland, which is great!
Until I ran into you I never knew about the meet and greet, looking forward to that bye the way.
I run onto other xb owners when I travel, so I'm thinking we try and rally more boxes, right?
See you sunday mang!
cheers!

I try and stop as many as I can and let them know about the meet and greet club. Unfortunately, not everyone that purchases an xB truly loves them like we do, some people just saw them on a used lot and bought it because is suits their needs and it is just a car.
Me. I saw the Detroit autoshow premiere on tv and loved it, watched them debut US wide in June 04, started contacting Toyota Canada......Ya good luck.
Saw my first one in person in March 05, Totally fell in love and knew I wanted one.
As soon as I heard they were coming out with a new body style, I got one imported in July 06. Now the major problem is to stop modding, Every little thing just makes it feel new again!
Hope to see you on the second Sunday of each month, One of my favorite days of the month!!!
