Default Had a visit tonight from Avondales finest..............

This week I've been busting my butt getting alot of parts painted for some of our Scion friends. Most of all doing finishing touches on Andrews 2tone tc.
Tonight I was clear coating the cf hood and another part when I heard 'Bang Bang Bang' on my garage door. Usualy my neighbor down the street will come over while I spray and we'll bs for a while. So I stopped spaying and peeked out under the garage door and low and behold, 2 Avondale Police officers. "Excuse me, can we talk with you for a moment?" I thought "OH SH*T". I put the paint gun down, crawled out under the door and took my respirator off. The officer said they were notified by my neighbor (BIG SURPRIZE THERE), who was complaining about the paint smell. The officers looked at my setup with the fans and asked if there was a way I could filter the smell. I thought, of course, I'll grab a ac filter from my house and put it on the fans, and he said that should work good for us. I was thinking, is this for real, he's not going to bust me. Then he mentioned that he dosent think theres a law stating I cant paint in my garage as a 'hobby'. Then we started talking about what I was doing to Andrews tc and then we started talking shop about his mini and old spitfires. He mentioned his neighbor is going to paint ghost flames on his blue mini, at his house. Got on the topics of interior lighting and paintless dent repair and rockblocker.
So all in all it was cool, just keep the smell down and keep on doing what im doing, theres nothing wrong with it he said......
Although im sure painting a full car is worse than painting parts.

I realy hate my neighbor next to me, more and more each day.....

I bet your heart was beating fast when the cops pulled up! That was cool of them to tell you keep on doing what your doing. I got an idea! Next time you paint take dog poop or anykind of poop and put it close to your neighbors house with a fan blowing towards his house! I hate neighbors like that! I wouldn't mind if they came up to me and asked if you could do something about the paint smell. Crappy neighbors suck!

Man -- I seem to remember something about those neighbors - Oh ya it was our
box in your garage at the time. I had to go look in the garage just see if it
was still there or if it had taken a midnight stroll down to your house for a late night
paint fume fix

Glad the cops where cool tho.

What a nad your neighbor is! I think we should have a huge Scion meet at your house and have 50 Scions all lined up on your street, because I know there are at least that many that you have done work for!!! That should make your neighbor happy. I know the several times I have pulled up to your house I get "the look" so lets have him see all of us there!

That wouldnt be such a bad idea. having a meet at the house would be awsome to see all the scions lined up across the road. id like to see the ieghbors reaction when we tell them we decided to visit.

Chris
I could round up a FEW !!!! BIKERS and we could meet @ your place for a M/C paint party...............and have a pinstriper doin up rides in your driveway

I know alot of Choirboys (Cops that are members of a club ) that look like hardcore bikers on the weekends , but by day are legit police officers and Judges , if the neighbors wanted to hassle us they might get a big suprise !!!!!

This weekend I went out and bought some materials to build a custom ventilation / filter system for my garage. On paper and in my mind it looks like it will work so we'll see in a couple days if it realy does....

I just finished building my new filter system tonight, and it works. There are 2 parts to it, each filter is 2ft x8ft, for a total of 16ft in length. The garage door sits on top of it when closed so the garage will be sealed off and hopfuly no dust will come thru. Tomorrow I get to put it to the test...

Default filter system

Chris
You're a pretty Fart Smucker , do you have air flow from the opposite end of the garage so you have positive flow ?
There's nothing better than backyard engineering !!! (those guys that have degrees could take some lessons from guys like you)
