Default I am back in the mix

Sorry I havent posted in a really long time. My work took our access away and I finally got my laptop up and running again. If you didnt already notice, I became a posting ***** in like 2 seconds. I have also decided to take the liberty of posting weekly meets every Saturday for people that still want to make this community strong again as well as for the ones that dont go to the shows. Please IM me of any ideas you might have for the meets

I don't think he meant that. That would defeat the need to get anybody else going!

I think he meant that there should be some sort of local calendar that nobody posts in, but it Lists the upcoming events in order by date. That way everything is organized by date. Because what happens is that everyone puts something like "I will be there" and the thread gets to be 20 pages long when we have a roll call on Scionetics. Or you have all the Announcements with the same thing and they are never in order. They are always in order by the most recent one to have a post in it. I think that is what he meant.

I don't know, boomster likes to be in charge.

I do know what you said and I think it's a great idea. A sticky that lists all upcoming events in the original post on the first page. Scionetics only shows a few, so anything a couple months down the road doesn't show up. The announcements are good, but like you said, not in order.

i have no problem staying on top of a thread for a roll call. I would maybe ask for some assistance in that you can post in the thread that you'll be going but at the same time send me a PM with a link to the thread you are referrring to attending and letting me know that you'll be going.

This should not be a problem

I think Scionetics is good for a Roll Call as long as Mark can start putting up a few more than 3-4 events at one time. But a calendar of upcoming events (meets, shows, etc) listing them in order by date would be wonderful. The key would be to keep people from posting to that thread. Who knows. It would be great to have a listing of events as soon as they are found out about whether it be a month in advance or a year in advance. Maybe this is something that can be done outside SL. Maybe even on Scionetics (since it is a networking toool). Just ideas.

roll calls for the next 4 events is fine on Scionetics. If you edit the first post (not the title) of a sticky does it come unstuck? The person that created the upcoming event list could keep it updated if it doesn't. That way the first post would ONLY be the date-ordered list and any posts after that wouldn't matter. If it does come unstuck Scott would have to do it.

Something like that. It would just be nice to have the events organized in a logical order for planning purposes. IMHO

Where have you guys been?

Scionetics will list as many events as we post. It also drops them from view once their date is passed. It just limits the number to 5 on the main page. Once you exceed 5 events it adds a link to the bottom of the event list on the main page so we can click onto the full list.

Scionetics lists ALL events in order by date.

It also only shows local events to the user. Again, want to see if anything else is going on elsewhere, it does that as well.

There is a reason I've been claiming it to be the best setup online (that I know of)

We don't need to repost info on SL and that is nothing against SL either, I just wouldn't use any forums as an event calendar or mailing list, it just IS NOT efficient. We should talking about upcoming events and the ones we went to or missed on SL. A discussion forums.

Okay... now I'm getting a complex. What's with the roll-call on Scionetics?

The event calendar is available for use by members of Scionetics that are also involved with a car club or other Scion-related organization. I can even set it up to note Scion and Non-Scion events. If you have sponsors for your event it will allow you to link up to 4 of them, with banners, from the Event Info/Roll Call window.
