Need HELP! Wrecked the Box!
*sigh* so here's what my car looks like after the eventful lunch break I had earlier today. My brother and I were the only ones in the car (I was driving) and we're both fine....Got hit by a Honda Ridgeline that was doing about 20 over....The car was originally facing the other direction and close to where the truck is that you see in the background of the first photo. I am insured, had full coverage on it, and I do have gap insurance on it....Since this is my first wreck I'm not sure how everything works out. I have a $1,000 deductible, so if my car is not valued at what I have left to pay off, and the insurance company has to dip into the gap coverage, does it mean that I have to pay the deductible? Also, would it be possible to fix an Xb in this kind of shape, and if so would it even be worth it? It's pretty much guaranteed that it's going to be a total, what looks to be the front of the frame is bent on either side....Past all that, from the front of the front doors all the way to the back is perfectly fine....The interior is even fine minus 2 deployed airbags...It was an 06 Manual with about 18,000 miles on the odometer and the motor and tranny appear to be ok, so how much could I get for it if I just sold it as it is, or parted it out?

Now is it your fault or thiers.. If its thier fault.. then its all on them deductable etc. If its yours.. well then your going to have to pay the 1K.
Gap will cover what is owed over the value of the car. others please correct me if I am wrong..
And sorry about your box.. sucks to see them get squished.
and you will be amazed what they can fix. As long as the main core (sub)frame is not messed up, they might fix it.. It just depends on the $ amount to fix vz what the value of the box.

Well, because this issue is not over yet, and dude's probably going to try to take me to court because he's a d**k, I will say that my insurance company told me they will probably be placing the blame on me, so I guess I'll be paying the $1,000. I honestly hope they total it out so I can get a new car, I'm just trying to figure out how much of a pain it would be to restore it if it comes to that....This would put me in a paid off vehicle so it's obviously worth the thought. I am a mechanic and know what's involved, and what amount of work it would take, I'm more concerned with the monetary part of taking this route....
It is salvageable but really depends if you still want to keep the car. Remmeber the parts are pretty expensive are hard to find. Also keep in mind that the car will have a salvage title if the insurance company decided to total it.
If I can help with anything please feel free to let me know. Sorry to hear about this accident, but Im glad both fo you are A-Okay.. Thats the main thing if I can help with anything please feel free to let me know.

IMHO!
Glad everyone is well and, like Chad said, if I can help or if you need any other info just ask.

if it is there fault, then it is the responsibility of the other party and their insurance company to compensate you for the damages you have suffered.
who did the cop write a ticket for? if it wasn't you, then you aren't liable and the other guy will have to pay.
now in the mean time. you can pay your deductible, your insurance company will handle everything.
they will pay you for the market value of your xb, plus your gap coverage, minus your deductible. you can get a new car or whatever.
now then, your insurance rates won't go up if you weren't at fault, and your insurance company will most likly seek legal action against the other party on your behalf. i.e. lawyer, sue and so on. if they get the other party's insurance to pay for the damages, you'll even get your $1000 deductible back.
don't be a doormat, you have suffered a loss, stick up for yourself.

ouch, that suxs. if they do total it out, they'll pay market value on the vehicle. I'm not really clear on how the accident happen. Was the Ridgeline going the opposite way that you were but in the far most left lane?

Don't sweat it, your covered, you got gap, get all your papers together and be ready for about 2 mos of paperwork hell.
The toaster is toast. Yeah that sucks but why would you even consider buying it back? Unless you have the ability to rebuild it and cheap. Then you got to spend time at MVD getting a salvage title and if all that goes well, try to get insurance on a salvage titled toaster. That won't be fun at all.
I'd be calling Chad and Bryan and start shopping for a new toaster.
If you have full coverage premium which I think you do since you said you have to pay deductable, the insurance company will pay you the full amount of the car minus deductable even if you are at fault. Anyway, to answer your question, you can probably sell your car for around $3k unrepaired.
