Hey everyone. I would like to shoot something out there.
First off I know that not everyone on Scionetics is here on SL, so with that said I hope this falls on open ears.

I have noticed at the last few meets a sugnificant difference in the number of people who show up for Scionetics roll called events, and number of people who sign up for events.

Here is the deal people. When someone hosts an event. They put in quite a bit of time and energy to make the event a success. This incudes, but is not limited to Food, Prizes, Reservations, Sponsors. Now as a common curtacy, I would like everyone to imagine having a wedding or party that required an RSVP. You would expect people to at least comunicate with you wheather or not they were gonna show.
The last three Scionetic roll called events I have shown up for have had less than half of the people that signed up actually at the show... I know this may be due to people forgeting or circumstances may prevent. PEOPLE the least you could do for the event planner is reflect your intentions on Scionetics or via the phone. Everyone likes these meet and greets and shows right???? Well If 40 people sign up for an event and 10 show up you are all going to start frusterating the hosts. Thus they won't plan another. All I'm sayin is unless you are for sure to be at an event, don't sign up. And if you have a change of plans have the cortesy to UN-sign up the day prior. Heck even on the day of would be better than just not showing up.!!!

Sorry to all that may be offended. But you all need to put your selves in the shoes of these great people who are kind enough to organize these events for us.

Amen Brother! This has been bothering me for at least 6 months. I'm glad someone could come out and say something that wasn't a regular host.

Yah the sunday night football thing. I'm not here to single anyone out cause I'm even guilty for this offence back when I was new to the comunity. All I'm trying to do is get people to realize that they truley are for lack of a better word are "D1cking" the hosts of these events. I know that if anyone purchased a few pizza's for a little shin dig and no one showed up you'de be upset as well. Listen people the last thing I want to do is dicourage attendance. Just be considerate thats what it comes down to.....

Sara here.... that is what happened with Roswell. A fair amount of people did show,
but only a third of those who signed up. BIG hint here was they posted they would
come but did not pre-register and pay the fee. Most people just figure it
is no big deal. They are only one out of so many who posted.

It would be nice if events where spread out so everyone could attend.
But RSVP does not stop the no shows.
Best rule in planning - figure half who sign up will come. Just the way it is.
That is why the airlines over book - they know people will change their plans.
I work in a Dr office, and you would not believe the number of people who do
not show or bother to call when they can not make the appt.

Hopefully this will give others something to think about next time their
plans change and they can not make a event that they sign-up for.
Someone will be missing you - let them know you not be there.

 

Dude, you don't even know me or know why I didn't go and when there are only 5 names on the list and two of us didn't go, you are for damn sure pointing fingers. I knew from day one this was addressed towards myself and anyone else who didn't go to the SNF game, since you posted it while the game was going on! Maybe if you had talked to Marc or Marc remembered my conversation with him when he first told me about it, I said I was a maybe from day one!!!!!! Don't say you aren't trying to single anyone out when you clearly did! If you didn't want to single anyone out, you should have replied it wasn't one incident in particular just something that has been bothering me for a while, but you didn't do that now did you!

Dude I am so sorry you feel singled out. As I said in the first post this happens alot it wasn't till I was asked about the freakin football thing that I gave the example. And as for singling you out. Man I didn't even read the list of who was going all I knew at the time of the post that 7 people had signed up. and no one showed. Heck I even addmitted that I have done it myself. I don't know why everyone is so angry that I'm even hinting at being frusterated. I'm not the one who cares about this. The hosts of these events are the ones who get upset. It just ain't right. and it's just a matter of respect.
As for using bold and caps. I actually use bold and size 15. bite me its easier to read exscepial since I'm half blind. BTW Thanks for moching my handicap.

The sole purpose of posting this thread was to hopefully make some people see that it is very inconvinient to throw a shin dig and plan for 40 because thats how many sign up... and only 20 show.
I'm tired of apologizing take it with a grain of salt. And next time if you or anyone is so angry at me, there is a thing such as PM we can talk about this like adults rather than on here.
