Sell me and my fiance on a scion :)
ok, im being very wishy washy on buying myself a scion,
here are my reasons,
i love my tundra, hate the gas milage. But im am bored of it, with a wedding coming up i cant afford the 5k+ it would take to lift it the way i want.
Only thing im worried about on an xB is my loss of horse power.. i know you dont buy one for power. But I do enjoy the pep the truck has.
The other thing we looked at this weekend. I have had the truck less then a year. So my payoff to debt ratios isnt so great. Im basically 4k under on the truck. Based on Bluebook trade in value. So Im guessing my payment will be higher, but with the gas saved each month I still come out 200-300 less a month overall payment.
I only will get my scion if i can get certain features i want. Leather/moonroof/wheels. The whole point of me doing this is getting a car that I dont have to add to much too to make me happy with it.
So I dunno, i figured if i asked maybe someone could bring up some points im missing. In my arguement with myself
Anywho.. i should point out. so far over the phone Ron at camelback has been super cool with helping me out. Ill be going there for sure when I make my decision, which can be any day now.

maybe the best way is to just go there and drive one around for a little while. make sure you feel comfortable in it. as for SAVING 200-300 a month, thats more than one of my monthly car payments. its all about YOU. how you feel and 'what moves you'. I was absolutely set on another car before i drove it around. i was so turned off, i continued my search untill i found the scion. good luck to ya.

you can get those features on any car..even a yugo. just understand they won't be from the factory, it will be aftermarket.
if you need those from the factory you are looking at the wrong car.
FrozenPeaz...one question.
What is more important to you? The Horsepower or the Payment?
We curerently have a 4.0 liter 06 tacoma and gotta tell ya we are selling it becasue we are tired of the big ol payment every month and at the pump. The thing I love about the Scion is the toyota reliability, the fact you can personlize it anyway you want, and of course the price point. But yeah, just got drive one for awhile. To me what really sells me Scion is that whenever I see the car, tc, xa, xb I smile. That is what it's all about!
Best of luck!

You and your lady should test drive one. Make Ron let you drive it around for a while. Take it on the freeway and city streets. It has the pep to get on and off the freeway. In fact it is better than my Mazda B2300. It does not have the HP to pull things, but it has the pep to get around and you cannot beat the gas mileage.
The cool thing I like about my xB is the fact that I know exactly where the front and rear end are and I can really move through traffic. (just have to watch doing that in front of the police).
My wife and I love mine and it it great to put my son who is 6'2" tall behind me with the seat all the way back. I have not found another vehicle that could do that.
We love ours. Good luck with whatever you choose.

Lets see, I filled up from about empty and it cost me less than $20. I can drive all week from Glendale to Scottsdale (22 miles one way in rush hour traffic) on that tank of gas. My payment with the extended warranty and all the extras I added is just over $300 a month.
I am about 6'3" and I can sit in the back of my car with plenty of leg room. In fact my boss is the smallest person at my office he is about 6' and about 200lbs, the biggest person is about 6'4" and around 250lbs and my xB is the only car of the four of us, we can all fit in. It is funny to see the stares we get with 4 big guys getting out of my car.
At 108 hp you aren't going to win many races off the line in an xB but you will in the long run when you spend $17 to fill up from empty versus, what? $40, $50+ to fill up a full size truck? I average around 37 mpg.
Plus Consumer Reports rates the xB the cheapest car to own over a 4 year period. Even cheaper than the Prius or Accord hybred. They also rated it as one of the safest SUV's on the road and the cheapest to repair in an accident. Yeah they rate it as an SUV.
Go test drive one and see what you think.
Cheers

if you're worried about the loss of power what about waiting till the new xB is released which has the same engine as the tC so you get that horsepower back. The look of the car is different than the current box but you have the horsepower gain and still a reliable, innovative, and unique ride.
Anyone know when that new xB will be released?

I traded in my Tundra on a 06' Xb. I traded it in right when gas had eclipsed $3.30 a gallon. It was costing me almost $70 a week in gas. So for me it was a heat of the moment I have to have something cheaper to drive. Here is the bonus I discovered later.... I can park up front anywhere I want. The thing almost fits in the motorcycle parking. It now costs me $18 a week to fill it. 7 days between fillups instead of 5. Lowered my payment a ton. The Scion's have a boat load of easy mods to do to make it your own. My 6 year old loves all the room in the back seats. And most important of all... The scion community is full of great people that just like to have fun. Scionlife. com has been one of the most usefull places for information that I have ever found. And they are all great people. I am hoping to make it out to an event to finally meet everyone. I don't regret it a bit. It just took sometime for me to adjust going from a very strong V8 back to 4.

in my opinion, i wouldn't worry about the power issue, you can always do small tweaks on the motor. i have a 5 speed in my xA and it gets me where i'm going pretty quickly when i want it to. and the gas savings and monthly payment savings are a beauty.
ryan this might be in some sort of interest to ya
