Can you even begin to imagine the pain of a 4-year-old after her daddy dies?
The mission of Snowball Express, an all-volunteer, non-profit organization, is to help create new memories and a few days of joy for lives that have been shattered by the loss of their fallen hero. It is America's chance to give a gift of gratitude to the children and spouses of those men and women in the U.S. Armed Forces who made the ultimate sacrifice since September 11, 2001.
Snowball Express started just last year, and last December we flew 900 grieving family members from all across America to Southern California for an unforgettable holiday party. Kids and widows discovered they weren't alone. And they found they weren't forgotten.
It was a totally volunteer effort which came together in just a few months to create the largest all-expense-paid gathering for the families of our fallen warriors since 9/11.
Southwest Airlines, Oakley, Quiksilver, Panda Express, Taco Bell, Starwood, Marriott, Best Western, Disneyland and countless other partners and sponsors, combined with thousands of Rotary volunteers in Southern California and all across America, contributed and volunteered because it was the right thing to do.
And this November, we’re doing it again… only bigger and better… this time we're shooting for 1,500.
Gary Sinise will be throwing a concert. Southwest Airlines has pledged hundreds of free tickets. Oakley is providing another huge party and show. The families will spend a whole day at Disneyland.
Rotary Clubs all across America are lending a generous hand. The Irvine Spectrum Rotary Club was one of the official Rotary sponsors for Snowball Express and once again, they are sponsoring the 2007 event.
Hotels are climbing aboard to provide free rooms. Bus companies are providing coaches.
Companies like Southwest Airlines, Oakley, Quiksilver and Panda Express are already on board.
But it's expensive to throw an event of this size. Especially since we don't want to burden the families with having to pay for any part of it. They've already paid enough.
We need YOUR help.
If you’re an individual, we’ll take your dollars. One or a thousand.
If you’re a corporation, become a sponsor.
If you’re an organization, lend us your hearts to help mend those of the survivors in small towns and big cities all across America.
There are no votes in these efforts. No lobbying, no politics.
No Republicans. No Democrats. Only Americans.
These people died as Americans. Let’s step up as Americans and help their families.
Dig deep. Please.
They deserve no less.
