Default Snowboarders

Any snowboarders in the house? I know it's still early to be thinking of snow but....... We just moved here in Feb from Texas we went to the Snow bowl in March and played around with the kids. I have been surfing my entire life and wakeboarding for about 3yrs so the transition to snow shouldn't be to bad............I hope? lol. Anyways it would be cool to hook up this winter and hit the snow.

lets hope our mountains actually get snow this year. last year was no bueno thats for sure. i had skated all my life and wakeboarded for 2 years and it was still pretty hard. just stick with it and ull get it. takes a day or 2 to learn the basics. then its pretty easy from there. alot of people just give up after a day or two if they cant figure it out. man i cant wait to hit the snow!!

Damn knuckledraggers!!!!!

I ski, but trust me....if you saw me on the hill, the only way you would know I ski is by my boots. Been skiing since I was three, used to work as a Tech Rep for Rossignol for three years and lived in Frisco, CO for Four seasons. Worked out of Vail the whole time. Most of my friends up there say I ski better then I walk, lol, I am little bit of a clutze without my skis on. I usually get about twenty days or so a year in now that I live here, far short of the 115 or so I used to get.

Used to ride about twenty days or so of my 115, so I can snowboard, but am much more comfortable on my sticks. We need to roll out for some trips, already watching the vids.

Oh, and it's never to early to think about snow!!!!!

Cool we'll have to get together this winter for some trips! We went to Flagstaff last Monday and hiked around on the trails up at the Lodge area. I think the altitude was jackin with me and my wife? We both mentioned to each other about being light headed? lol Like I said I took my kids up there last march when they received that last good blast of snow and sledded down some hill (cinder park) or something like that. Was a blast but moving from Tx our winter cloths were not good for playing in the snow. My wife had to fly back to Tx for a funeral and missed all the fun, man I can't wait.

I'm jonzing alreay for the snow. Living hear makes it so much worse because in CO at least we could keep riding usually until 4th of July, A-Basin can almost make it all year long, just depends on how warm the summer gets. Here though, usually done with the season by April.

Tons of places close by that are better then Flagstaff. Sunrise is about 3 1/2 hours away, great places fairly cheap to stay. Snow Summit and Big Bear are only about 4 1/2, Brian Head in UT is only about 6 or so. We used to take day trips to Brian Head in college. Would leave at like 2 and ride all day and then drive home around 5, get back to town around midnight. Those were the days. Anything for that white stuff!!!!

Ah no worries. Snowboarding has one of the easiest learning curves out there, you just have to be willing to take some pain the first few days and then it just clicks. I can teach you everything you need to know. I warn you though, you will be very soar the first few times you go.

never been snowboarding but used to surf until 6 years ago so its been awhile since I been on any type of board. Used to skateboard also so it shouldnt be that hard to get da transition down! We should plan a trip to snow bowl when winter comes around.

or the two sticks under those boots

As many of you know I live in Italy from June 2002- June 2005 and I have to say that snowboarding sucks in the southwest, I'm a free ride/big mountain type rider and the closest thing I found to that last year was Wolf Creek, Co(11hr drive north-east). But I did make it out to Cali to Big Bear several times last year and the road up to that mountain is one of my favorites on the west coast. Oh and if you aren't convinced that I am a snowboarder to the bone, I sleep with my boards next to my bed but seriously I do Deff down for some weekend, or even day trips(that is if I can get out of going to Korea )

Oh and I think that snowbowl will be aloud to blow snow this year, they weren't able to in the past because of the stupid tree huggers saying it was bad for the enivironment Hopefully they'll be open fro more than two weeks this year, I missed both this past season

Nick- You can go snowboarding with Michela and I this season. We plan on going a few times. We will help you break in that board of yours.

I sleep with my board by my bed too. Except mine hangs above me. I hope AZ gets some snow this year, but either way, my gf and I will be hitting up Cali.

I'm down for some boarding too. I didn't get to go this past year cause the snow was so horrible so I'm hoping for some good powder this year.

Damn, I am the only real man in this thread. All of you riding that single slab under your feet, no one wants to learn how to use both feet. Ha Ha, that's okay....

Freeride/Big Mountain eh? You need to hit Silverton in CO. Just opened a few years back but they have some of the craziest terrain in the area. Also, I can show you some backcountry in CO that would blow your mind. We will just need to get your beacon skills up a bit before we can head out there.

Used to ride Big Mountain but after you've been to AK a bit, nothing here in the states compares. Got more into the park rat action, hence why you wouldn't recognize me. Favorite thing now is a nice 30 to 40 ft. flat rail, come in hot and just slide. Then again a big 60 ft hip is always fun. With my knee now I try to stay semi close to the ground, which is why I have spent so much time hiking the rails.

That's how I started, then made the switch to just the board.

I can't even tell you how many times I have taken my poles to the ribs or landed on them. That is why I use the ten dollar rental ones now. I have a monkey stile anyway... ...for those who don't know what that means, I almost always have my hands by my side and don't really use them except to balance.

Try learning how to land switch on skis. I got hit in the head twice by my skis learning that one. You need to keep your head up otherwise your balance will shift and you will start to lean forward. Then you land on your tips and like a spring they load up and pop off, no fun. Took a bit, but finally got the hang of it after some good wacks to the helmet.
