Stay away from Danny's Family Car Wash
This is brought on mostly by something I heard on the radio this morning which I will go into more detail about later but I personally have not gone to one in over a year. It's hard to find someeone that can speak english in the right area to follow simple directions that specific vehicles might need. As most know I've had the hatch of my vehicle modified for a while and with the tC if you open the hatch all the way after washing it the water will spash and run directly into the hatch area. Last two times I took it there I specifically explained to them that when they open the hatch to dry the water they have to open the hatch slowly so that the water has time to drain down the sides and not fall inside the car, BOTH times they couldnt understand and got water inside the car. I also remember hearing stories of peoples wheels getting messed up because of the guide railings, but I'm going to mention now though is way above and beyond horrible service.
On 98 KUPD this morning John Holmberg was saying how mad he was after taking his Nissan Armada to the Dannys on 16th st and Highland yesterday. They tried to get him into a detailing deal for $249 but he said no and opted for the regular wash, the guy said he would throw in the shampoo and interior cleaning for free so he agreed on that. He was quoted a time of 30 minutes and with that left to a couple other stores to kill time. Got back and they were still not done with it so he waited patiently in the waiting area thinking maybe they told him an hour and 30 minutes.
When he looked out the window to see his car he saw all the doors open and two of the employees boxing with each other with the boxing gloves he had in the back on THEIR hands. After the two employees went were done with each other one of the female workers put on a glove and punched the WALL a few times with it on which anyone knows will DESTROY a punching glove. The rest of the stuff he had in the back of the car he saw on the ground and being walked on a couple times.
This enraged him enough to go to management which took a little while for them to then get someone who classifies as the manager in his opinion because they know the most english phrases there but still doesn't full understand the language. The manager basically called him a lier saying "i didnt see this" and "i don't believe this happened". While John was speaking with him he looked out the window and then saw something even more horrible happening to his car.......
If anyone is familair with the Nissan Armada you would know that it has a rear power lift gate, so instead of closing the hatch yourself you hit a button and it will close. If you try to close it yourself it will try to fight you but with enough force it will still close. While I'm sure it can't break closing it yourself i'm sure its not great for it, just like the trunks on Cadillacs that close the final inch on their own and if you slam it you can break it. Well when John looked out the window he saw two of the employees HANGING off the hatch while it was open with their feet off the ground trying to close it. When he tried to point it out to the manager they had already gotten off.
He at that point said he wantd his keys back and the manager told him no, he said that his car is taking longer because it was dirty which Holmberg replied "thats why I brought it here". John noticed after he sat down the manager went out there and talked to the employees so they started working faster on the car to get it done and then expected him to still pay the $140. He tried refusing but the place wouldnt hand his keys over.
He told management that at 7:30 this morning he was going to blast their company on the radio so the manager tried calling corporate but of course no one was available. I can't remember at what point in this story this happend as well but while they were still working on the car (if you can call it that) they all decided to take a lunch break and took out their lunch boxes and started eating with the car just sitting htere after already being there for over 2 hours.
I will NEVER go to one of these places for anything and recommend to anyone that cares about their ride. It even states on the receipt that "We are not responsible for any objects left in the vehicle." A listener called in and told a story how him and his wife left their new Tahoe there to get detailed once for 8 hours and it was still only 3/4 done when they came back. They had a child seat in the back that they removed while detailing and just set it aside, it ended up getting put in someone elses car and left. Because of their claim they were not responsible for it. A child seat can cost over $100 to replace so thats just rediculous.
I'm sure many of you have horror stories of Danny's or Cobblestone, thats why I just do everthing myself in the drive way.

Wow, thats crazy. I've only taken my box to one of those types of car wash places once but decided not to go again after i heard about it being possible that the railing would damage my rims. Now I just do it all myself (when i feel like it
)
On older cars I would ALWAYS take out any cds, faceplates, anything like that because nowadays you just can't trust anybody with stuff like that.
That sucks for Holmberg. Luckily he has the money to fix it if anything is broken or damaged but thats still ridiculous that something like that would happen.

whether he can pay for it or not its still incredible that they're putting on other peoples items like boxing gloves. Your hands sweat and get nasty when you have those on
yea i took the eclipse there a few times and had them hand wash the car. both times they broke parts on the inside of the car. they gave me a few free washes but i went to a different store to have my cars cleaned.

I either do mine myself, go to a touchless carwash, carwash bay, or I go to Los Olivos Car wash (hand wash). With Los Olivos, you still have the risk of the track, but they do a bunch of high dollar cars. They also listen to their customers when it comes to hatches and stuff like that. But you have to talk to the guy that supervises the people who complete the drying and detailing process.
I have never had a huge complaint with Los Olivos, they seem to care about cars. And that is only when I do not want to do it myself (sometimes I get lazy). lol

I heard this, this is terrible that something like this can happen and why I don’t use them.
I only use Cobblestone, and most of you have seen my tC. I do nothing special when it comes to washing and have it washed once a week. I detail it once a month and it stays in great shape. It also helps that the Cobblestone and service writer I have known for over a year. They know my car is hand wash only, no power sprayers since it has vinyl and they know about opening the rear hatch.
Not always possible to use the same place but it helps to make the connection so crap like this does not happen.

Los Olivos is great. It's hand washed,,,, but machine sprayed down. They do have good communication. Danny's is so busy and they have a poor attitude. I listened to the Holmberg this morning also. He should have know better but their service to him was unacceptable. The best alternative is to wash your car once and then look in a vacum sealed container and put away until further use...HAHAHA
dannys is by far the worst car wash in the world. we took our old silverado there a few years back to have the oil changed, well they handed the keys to my dad and there was no oil in the engine, resulting in a blown engine. we had to take them to court and only ended up getting half the money back. now my dad drives a powerstroke diesel and tells them about having to wait for the glow plugs everytime and they never wait, they just crank it over. ive had a few other bad experiences, just nothing i can remember off the top of my head.
#1
#2
#3, #4 (and maybe even #5)
Maybe I just don't understand, but #1 would have been enough for me to never give them my business again.

we didnt go there for quite some time, then i got my washes for free so i used to take my tacoma and civic (yes i was once a member of the dark side, not by choice, moms car) to get washed there. now i always wash it myself.
