I found a box off the side of my air intake. It is empty as far as I can tell, and it dose not open, but dose come off. if you follow the tubing from the filter, you will see a black box branching off to the front of the car. It is just kinda sitting there. When you loosen the hose clamp it comes off nicely, but I see nothing inside and can't figure why it would be there. What is it for? Can anyone enlighten me?

non geeky.. it takes the sound your intake makes.. VROOOM and counters it and makes the sound (like putting a speaker out of faze) to silence the intake noise.

 

Funny enough, those little bas-tards are the leading cause of engine fires in Tahoe's and whatnot. Rip that beyotch outta there and plug er up, good stuff.

 

thank you any suggestions as what to plug it up with? and just courious, why would it start a engine fire?
