Sunroof windscreen breakage?
Has anyone down in the valley had their sunroof windscreen shatter? Coming home from work mine just blew up on the drive home. My face was covered with flying glass.
My seats, carpet, drink everything was covered in glass.
So now its a holiday weekend, every place is closed. I'm not completely sure...can I get this repaired by the dealership (since it is a recall) or do I have to do my second glass claim this month to get it replaced.

What year is it? There is no "recall" ... it's a service campaign for 2005 and VERY early 2006 models that applies a laminate to the back of the glass so that if it DOES break, it doesn't break into 1000 tiny pieces... Did you get a letter to have it done? And if you did, did you ever actually get it done?
I'd say go to the dealer first and see what they say.

Its an 05. I never did receive a letter. 1000 tiny pieces would be pretty accurate of how it came apart.

I'll call the dealer on tuesday I guess. I just hope it doesnt rain over the next couple of days because the rest of the sunroof isnt closing right, so its open. Good thing Prescott is a safe place too

I think the actual sunroof should still seal when it's closed. As long as it can push the deflector down like normal and there isn't glass in the way. So I don't think rain should be too much of an issue... but definitely try the dealer first.
You can take the front panel out and the sunroof will seal. I've been there before when my carbon fiber hood took flight into my windsheild, and broke that panel about 5 months ago. The panel is held in by a few screws. The inside of the car will not get wet. It will just look funny with the missing galss until you get to the dealership.
Jason- That sucks to hear. Seems to be happening more and more. If you want me to protect all the glass panels let me know. Not completely bulletproof, but certainly will help and if the glass breaks again it will keep it in place insteadof on you.
Same goes for you to Troy when u get yours back

Actually Chad, yes. I'm interested. Or I'm thinking I'd like to just do a HUGE Scionetics logo that takes up the whole piece. Second option is to grab the carbon fiber cloth I have hanging around and glass out a replacement piece out of CF. Hoping it would look good with my hatch and hood...and b-pillars, door sills, and air diversion panel.
I got a letter from the dealer I purchased the car from stating "recall". Took it in and they put a protective laminate on it, cant even see it. I looked up the car on Mitchell at my school to see if there were any other issues I didn't hear about, nothing else, but the wind deflector was on there, take it to the dealer...as long as its still under warrenty they have to replace it.
Mine shattered a couple weeks after I bought my car. About this time last year I guess. The weird thing is... It shattered sitting in front of my house. Sunroof closed and everything. It blew up. Nothing hit it or anything. It was the strangest thing. It kind of exploded, leaving pieces of glass covering my car fron the hood to the trunk. I took it in to a dealer and they replaced it as a "good deed" or something. This happened before the so called 'recall' was issued. So anyway, they should replace it for you. Good luck!
