I really don't know how you could have had a bad time and I only got a positive atmostphere from all the people there from Scion. I know Devon and Tim (Devstc & Handybox) showed up REAL late BUT Scion still let them test drive the new xB.

time frame to show up? you could've arrived during the last half hour and they wouldn't have cared...

i'm not sure what you experienced but i doubt it was from any of the staff who was representing Scion there.

ohh.. and as far as the fire extinguishing dust in the engine compartment (i assume the one one display inside for the accessories)... i was there in OC fairgrounds when the power supply went kaput... saw the first signs of smoke and went.. "uh oh...."

Yea, they explained that they had plugged the power supply in before undoing the battery.. insta meltdown.

actually.... it was sitting there for a while.. a bunch of dealership people started messing around with the vehicle and that was when smoke started to come out....
it was quite alot of smoke....

i took a peek inside the engine bay.... there was one wire that was glowing bright red... it was yeah.... definitely hot...

smoke dissipated... power supply trashed... car was rolled out.... floor was cleaned... car was cleaned... (as much as possible)... and was brought back in under an hour.

that was definitely interesting....

The people were really nice to Yelosub and I when we got there. The real problem is we were told the event went until 11:00, but they closed at 9:00. Dev and Tim got there just before 9 (IIRC). I don't know what they would have said to someone who showed up at 10 after all the tents were down and cones picked up.

The thing i was mad about is what dudehitt just said. I got there with the understanding that atleast there would be something to see till 11. I got there at about 9:40 and thats when i was getting the attitude. Then i got irritated. Thats all. I was really looking forward to this all last week and this week and to show up with things closed down just ____ed me off. Thats it.

You must have showed up right when I left if you got there at 9:40. I can understand your frustration of showing up and then having everything torn down. It does seem to apppear that there was a miscommunication somewhere as to when the event actually ended.

I personally can say that no one from Scion corporate could have treated you poorly, everyone there last night with a Scion shirt on was very friendly and courteous.

I notice that you've been on the threads since 2004, but only posted about 6 times, any reason why you don't come out to the meets and events?

I used to go to most of them in seattle and went to a fair amount of the meets here for the first six months or so. Ive been doing alot of prison volunteer work lately (the last 6-9 mo) which usually is in the evenings and that hasnt been condusive to the meets. When i can, i go, i dont post much though.

oh dear... they closed up early? i heard the same thing happened in san diego...

it was because of not being a large turnout that i heard was what caused SD to close up early... i dunno how many people showed up there, but that's my only assumption...
that things were breaking up anyway..

yeah man.. i'm sorry... from all the ones i've been to at least.. they finished and most people left around 10.

there's two teams that operate the event and they all have to travel all around the nation.. i can understand the need for them to want to take things apart as soon as things started dying and the award ceremony was over... they need to rest and get ready for the next stop.

if you remember anyone that treated you poorly that was wearing a backstage button up shirt (indicating they work the tour)... lemme know.... i'll slap them when they come back to my area... lol

Me and Cathy came from Deming NM, 4 1/2 hour drive got there about 7:45 AZ time and had a blast, they even let us take the xB's for a spin after technically closing the booth down.
There was a lot of great info and the magic book and xD section were really cool. I too wish it would have lasted longer.. and that I would have brought my car so i coulda got a hat =(
