We just wanted to send out the invite to the Scion folks!
It looks like it would be a fun event for sure. I think the comment above was more intended to question the day of teh week more than anything. I know lots of people that would want to go and see some serious numers laid down and some fast **** cars doing it.
Being the week of HIN and all the last minute stuff that needs to get done to the cars it will be hard to get a large crowd out two days before HIN. Just my .02. I will be out there if I can, Just dont know with my work schedule if I will be able to yet or not.

Second what Chad said....just a horrible day to pick, let alone the week it is. First off, why a Thursday...most people work and I would think if you wanted a good turnout you would hold this on a Friday or Saturday??? Second, the week of HIN??? I would be there if it wasn't a Thursday and if HIN was Saturday...just too much to do and only after work to do it!!!
Yeah I COMPLETELY agree with you guys that a Thursday event is rough. Especially before HIN. Well WOTM is the main organizer of the event, and since we're renting the track privately, I'm assuming it was either cheaper or the weekend was booked. To be honest, it was meant to be pretty much a private event all along, but we got sooo many requests for a car show that we figured we would try to invite car clubs out as well. It's basically going to be an event unlike all the other Speedworld events recently. Usually their main focus is the car show, and drag is just a side show. But this time, it's other way around. I would say to mainly think about coming out in order to see some CRAZY drag cars. The track is going to be VHT'd all the way down, and there's NO restrictions on weight or tires! There's some BIG names in the car industry who will be out there. In case anyone has seen any of the Supra Nationals Meets in Houston every year, expect something along those lines, but with more exotics and Vipers. Anyways, I hope to see you all out there!
my previos comment was is no disrespect of wotm. it was for the same reason that everyone else is talking about. THURSDAY. and also on the same week as HIN . damn ... why ? there's been some badass drag events in the past at speedworld.
All Scion owners are invited at NO CHARGE to be included in the show and shine and run your Scion down the 1/4 mile.
I know its a thursday night but lets see if we can get a huge Scion crowd out there
... More details on the Scion portion to follow as I get them
..

The reason why we are having an event on Thursday the 11th of October:
I had originally heard that there was going to be a private track rental at Speedworld for some really fast street cars, and that WOTM was putting it together, but it would not be a quote “EVENT” due to the cost associated with the extra insurance and personnel. So I inquired as to what it would take to turn it into something that we could co-sponsor (Avondale Toyota & Scion & WOTM) and make it a fun community involved event for all of our Arizona Scion owners and their friends. My thought was that since the track would be available, Scion owners of any caliber from totally stock to fully modified could have the chance to bring their cars out and run them down the strip, with no expense to them. Plus it gives them a safe and secure environment to test out their driving skills and machines. The Scion portion of the racing is purely for fun and is not intended to be cut throat, clutch burning, drag racing. There will be three categories, totally stock, mildly modified and wildly modified, with three winners and three $300.00 cash prizes. Because I know Scion owners love to display their rides proudly, I thought a car show would also be fun, with some prize money for 1st 2nd and 3rd place @ $250.00 each. We have also hired a company to make a DVD of the event which will be available at a later date and much of it will end up on the web. Anyone who comes to the event from the Scion community (which is all of you) will get in for free, race their car for free and watch the street car drags afterwards for free. I understand that Thursdays are not the best and that HIN is that weekend, but our intention was to provide a venue to build friendships, show off your cars and even race them as well as win some cash money. So we would love to have as many Scion owners as possible attend. Please RSVP to Chris Henrietta @ chenrietta@avondaletoyota.com or just show up anytime and have some fun.
Thanks,
Brad Barnett
