Default Wanna Race?

Just a heads up. This Sunday at Firebird International Race, SCCA is hosting a special race event. It's a great chance to get out and see what your car can do and it's only $40. And the cost is only to drive, so if you want to watch or even ride, it's FREE!

All tCs can race. xBs and xAs have to have some suspension work done to be safe to race.

If you want to race, you need to be there before 8am for registration and to get your car checked by Safety. If you just want to watch or ride, races start at 9am!

Post up if you plan to be there and I'll be sure to say hi!

I'll be taking the SCCA classes in Washington, DC. Still unsure of what class I'll be put in. I'm hoping H stock, but idk because of my mods.

Why do you want to be in stock? (I'm assuming you don't have a set of racing tires to slap on your car for race day) Unless your region has adopted the street tire stock class, you actually get a better PAX running in STF than HS. And you really can't do much of anything to your car in stock. Any intake, lowering springs, even a short shifter will put you into STF. Annoying thing is, if you get wider tires at all (and they fit comfortably), you go up even another class into FSP.

But STF is a really great class this year. Not a lot of cars are running it, but with the PAX, it makes you very competitive in combined run groups.

In any case, let me know what you think of it. I absolutely love racing.

@hawaiian: Yep, totally free to watch. Sometimes there are signs saying there is a cost to park, but that's for other events. Just bring snacks, drinks, chairs, sunscreen, etc as they are at a premium there. And you enter at Gate 3.

@emrules: I don't know what you have done to your car, but all safety is looking for is to make sure you won't kill yourself or others. Your car doesn't even have to be street legal. Very few people fail the inspection. If you can answer "yes" to these questions, you should be fine.
- Do you have working seat belts?
- Will your car catch fire doing a lap?
- Do your doors close correctly?
- Do your brakes work?
- Are your battery, exhaust and other important parts secure?
- Do your tires have tread?

That's really all there is to it. Any upgrades to your car (intake, exhaust, wheels, turbo, body panels, etc) just affect which class you race in.

Also, to anyone who wants to race or ride, if you have a helmet, bring it! They offer loaner helmets, but you share with everyone there and I can't vouch to how they'll smell...
