Default Well it finally happend.....need your help Yelosub

So i thought it would be sweet to use a couple hours of personal time today and go down to my wonderful girlfriends work and take her out to lunch for Valentines day. On the way back on the 60 going west going 65 in a 65, in the right lane, with people passing me obviously going faster than the speed limit.........I GET PULLED OVER!

Not sure what the hell i was doing wrong he tells me who he is and tells me im getting pulled over for my front windows being tinted too dark. I play dumb a little bit but a lot of it was really not even playing dumb, I was really incredulous that i was being pulled over for just this.

So i got a fix it ticket and no fine, I think I'm just supposed to sign this thing and mail it in saying that I got it fixed and that's it. If I'm wrong someone please let me know. I really dont want to nor do i plan on removing the tint unless i am going to be forced to take the car down to show it. Even if it gets removed i plan on having it put back on since its frickin arizona and i dont like people seeing inside the car and seeing all my goodies installed.

So Tim......budddy............what am I to do here "off the record" scion owner to scion owner

you may want to ask BiggJ what he has done since I know his tC had the front windshield tinted and was pulled over a few times for it.

Why did you let them catch you Scotty! your TC can easily out run one of those FAT cruisers..Just take sharp turns at REALLY high speeds and you should lose them. If the Ghetto bird gets involved, drive to the Airport were they can't fly...Don't be scared..

Actually he got a ticket.. then a couple days later he got popped for the same thing, and the officer let him off since he already had a repair ticket for the windshield.

since its just a repair order i just have to have some kind of business firm it looks like sign off that it has been fixed. So i need to find the number for the guy that did it who said he would take care of any problems if they arise and get him to sign it sometime this weekend.

You should of received another sheet of paper with the ticket so that a licensed/Legitimate shop can fill out the form and says you fixed the problem. If you didnt get a form you may be able to get one form the gov website or simply type it up and have it signed off. You can also go to a cop which you probably dont want to who could sign off on it as being fixed. Of course if it is not then they can get in trouble or you would have to say that you had them retinted after you fixed the problem the first time.

I had a similar issue where cops pulled me over for blue lights. Had a cop friend sign off on it.

Alright, well I have got a couple of these and I never do anything. I even had one cop say "off the record" that they don't really do anything. So, i guess if you want to send it in, cool. But I never have.

he only gave me one form, at the bottom it explains to have it signed there and where to mail it in. Can you tell me Tim off the record if this is true that I don't even need to worry about sending it in. If you want to just send me a PM and not make it public thats cool

If they want to make it official and give you a ticket for it, they a device that they put on window and it tells them. Normally if they just give you a fix it ticket, they are just going off of looks.

Front windshields are illegal regardless of density, is that correct?
Speaking of which, I need to get my front windshield done. And my back door. All the windows are limo but the passanger back door. Kinda looks dorky

I think there was a kid in one of the other forums on SL that was complaining about a cop making him scrape his new window tint off by hand after he tested it and it was too dark.
I've never seen the test, but I've been told it's not very accurate either. I don't know if that's true or not.

Yeah it's a light meter or something. The tint shop where i live brought it out and tested my tint once because we couldn't figure what level I had by looking at my windows. It's weird because it actualy needs sun light inorder to work. I can't imagine cops having this tool handy unless they are specificaly looking for people with tinted windows. Not sure I missed it but what level tint do you have?

Believe it or not I have been pulled over for my tint twice now. I have factory tint plus 2 layers of 5% on all windows. I got fix it tickets, went to court had all windows cracked for a little sunlight to go in so they werent as dark and they let me off both times!! I dont fix it I work with what I have

That is BS. Az cops are usually very cool about tint. Must be some NOOB dork on the force. So many good cops and then you have the tards on the force.... Must be a back east cop, one that has not experienced a summer here.

you are aloud to have a windshield brow on the windshielf but its some rediculous size like only 4-6 inches down the window which won't do much good. Mine is like 12 inches down the window and actually helps with the sun.

Since this wasn't a ticket i think I will be ok and just have it signed off and mailed in. Yes they do have a meter to measure the tint and if i wanted to be a dick i could have asked him to use one if he actually had it but i was on limited time still and knew Heidi would be uncomfortable.

Yes my car has illegal tint but so does the majority of cars in arizona and for good reason. I accept that i have illegal tint, but I dont see how it is worth pulling me over just for that when i was doing EXACTLY the speed limit and not doing anything else wrong besides just trying to give my girlfriend a nice Valentines day.

One thing that i thought was weird is he was asking me where I was going, like i was speeding or something. After thinking about it later had I known Heidi wouldnt have gotten totally embarrased I should have said something like "we were on our way to this massive orgy but first we had to pick up a few dozen ******......its our turn at the party this time"....and see how he liked that answer
